Job description

NETWORK ARCHITECT (Contract) — Tallahassee, FL

Location: Tallahassee, FL (Onsite 5 days/week)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours (onsite)


Role Overview

TURNBRIDGE is seeking an experienced Network Architect to design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure for a high-visibility environment. This is a long-tenured role and requires someone who can step in quickly, stabilize priorities, and drive architecture and operational excellence across LAN/WLAN/WAN, security, voice, and hybrid connectivity.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to deliver resilient, secure, and scalable network solutions—while also mentoring others through knowledge sharing and best practices.


What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Architect, design, and support LAN/WLAN/WAN solutions across enterprise environments
  • Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery network resiliency strategies
  • Engineer and support content switching / load balancing solutions (e.g., Kemp, F5)
  • Design, operate, and maintain Storage Area Networks (SANs) in alignment with performance and availability needs
  • Manage network security controls including:
  • ACLs, firewall policy, proxy policy, and mail gateway security
  • Next-gen firewall and secure email/web gateway platforms (e.g., Palo Alto NGFW, Cisco IronPort)
  • Support voice and carrier services including POTS, PRI, and SIP trunks
  • Build and support cloud networking and hybrid connectivity solutions
  • Implement and support Cisco Collaboration technologies:
  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager (UCM)
  • Unified Contact Center Express (UCCX)
  • Unity Connection
  • Troubleshoot complex issues under pressure, performing deep root-cause analysis and documenting solutions
  • Collaborate effectively across infrastructure, security, application, and operations teams
  • Mentor team members and contribute to skill development through knowledge transfer and documentation

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience supporting public-sector IT environments (local, state, or federal)
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in the following:
  • LAN/WLAN/WAN design, implementation, and support
  • Content switching / load balancing (Kemp, F5)
  • SAN design and maintenance
  • Network security administration (ACLs, firewall policy, proxy policy, mail gateway)
  • Gateway management (e.g., Palo Alto NGFW, Cisco IronPort)
  • POTS/PRI/SIP and carrier circuit coordination
  • Cloud networking and hybrid connectivity
  • Cisco Collaboration stack (UCM, UCCX, Unity Connection)
  • Network resiliency design (DR/HA)
  • Familiarity with application design and scripting concepts (for automation/operational efficiency)
  • Strong documentation habits and ability to communicate technical decisions clearly
