Job description

Emergency Medical Services Provider

Provides the best possible emergency care by being prepared to respond to a medical emergency in a timely and safe manner.

Oversees and overall responsible for patient care when staffed as the higher level provider.

Maintains ambulances, ensures ambulances are operating and ready to respond, patient care equipment is tested and functioning, and ambulances are stocked with appropriate supplies per OEMS and SOPs.

Provides patient assessment and initiates appropriate care as indicated in protocols and scope of practice per state.

Administers medications and intravenous solutions per licensure, protocol, or med-control.

Willing to provide assistance to other EMS crews when requested.

Capable of working long shifts.

Anticipates and responds effectively to emergency and stressful situations.

Patient care documentation is accurate, timely, and thorough. Documentation meets standards per OEMS and billing compliance.

Maintains positive working relationships with Nursing Units, CCSO, MFD, MPD, and other agencies that EMS work with regularly.

Follows policies for medications and narcotic administration and stock replenishing.

Follows departmental Standard Operating Procedures.

Participates in EMS and hospitals safety program.

Maintains all education requirements according to organization and state.

Will be required to transport inter-facility transports as needed.

Maintains professional approach with confidentiality.

Displays concerns and initiative.

Adheres to hospital policies regarding punctuality and absences.

Adheres to uniform policy.

Works as Director schedules and is flexible.

Practices scripting and communication with family and family members.

Performs any and all duties assigned by Director.
