Director of Financial Aid
Thomasville, GA | $37.50 / hour
We are looking for a Director of Financial Aid to join a local University. This role provides strategic leadership, management, and oversight of all financial aid programs and services. The Director ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations governing student financial assistance while supporting institutional enrollment, retention, and student success goals. This position is responsible for administering federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs; managing financial aid operations; supervising financial aid staff; and collaborating with campus stakeholders to provide exceptional service to prospective and current students.
Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee all financial aid operations, including administration of federal, state, institutional, and private aid programs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial aid policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, training, and performance management for financial aid staff.
  • Establish service standards and operational goals that promote a student-centered approach to financial aid administration.
  • Evaluate and improve office processes, technology utilization, and workflow efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal Title IV regulations, state aid programs, accreditation standards, and institutional policies, including audit preparation and internal controls.
  • Oversee Pell Grants, Federal Direct Loans, campus-based aid, state grants, scholarships, verification, satisfactory academic progress, professional judgment, and Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4) processes.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and implement required operational updates.
  • Collaborate with campus leadership to develop financial aid strategies that support recruitment, retention, and enrollment goals.
  • Provide financial aid modeling, forecasting, and data analysis to support budget development, scholarship allocation, and institutional decision-making.
  • Oversee the administration of institutional, endowed, and external scholarship programs.
  • Manage financial aid systems and maintain data integrity, reporting accuracy, and required federal/state reporting.
  • Maintain and utilize SAIG, COD, FAFSA Partner Portal, NSLDS, and other federal systems.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, counseling, and guidance to students and families regarding financial aid eligibility and financing options.
  • Represent the University at recruitment events, workshops, conferences, and community outreach activities.
  • Develop financial literacy and student loan education initiatives.
  • Serve on University committees and task forces as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree, Master's degree preferred, from an accredited institution.
  • Financial aid experience in higher education.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience administering federal Title IV programs and maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in a private college or university environment.
  • Experience with financial aid leveraging, enrollment strategy, and scholarship management.
  • Experience with financial aid management systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of enrollment management principles and financial aid leveraging strategies.
  • Strong analytical and data management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and staff development abilities.
  • Knowledge of financial aid management systems, databases, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
