Do you want a career doing meaningful work that has a positive impact on people's lives? Have you thought about a career in state government but weren't sure how or where to begin? The SCCB is looking for hard working passionate individuals such as you! Every SCCB employee is important and a career with the SCCB will give you the opportunity to grow professionally and personally as you play a crucial role in the delivery of services to South Carolinians with visual impairments.
The Business Enterprise Program (BEP) at the SCCB helps eligible individuals become entrepreneurs by training, licensing, and equipping them to operate a snack bar, cafeteria, rest stop, or other vending facility within the state.
The SCCB is currently recruiting for a BEP Quality Assurance Specialist in the Charleston, SC, area. As a BEP Quality Assurance Specialist, you will ensure that vending facilities operated by BLVs comply with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations. Additionally, you will work closely with BLVs, property managers, vendors, and suppliers to ensure smooth operations and foster effective communication. Your expertise will help drive operational success from the bid selection process to managing equipment inventory and ensuring compliance.
The BEP Quality Assurance Specialist is a field-intensive, inspection-driven role responsible for ensuring that all vending and food service facilities operated by Blind Licensed Vendors (BLVs) meet strict compliance standards including those of the Randolph Shepard Act. This role is heavily focused on in-person site inspections, audits, and other program requirements, with in-state travel making up the majority of work time. This role requires an attention to detail, a strong grasp of vending facility operational protocols, and the ability to work independently.
The BEP Quality Assurance Specialist will, under general supervision of the Business Enterprise Program Director, safeguard program integrity by ensuring program standards are met by the BLVs across all locations within the given district. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure that assigned vending facilities are operated in compliance with the Randolph-Sheppard Act and all federal, state, and county laws and regulations by conducting regular onsite inspections.
- Ensure BLVs understand how to accurately complete and submit required BEP reports on time.
- Maintain all required documentation in the case management system.
- Maintain professional relationships with BLVs, property managers, and vendors/suppliers.
- Participate and ensure impartiality in the bid selection process for facilities in the assigned region.
- Complete inventory Ins and Outs as vending facilities are awarded and/or prior to site closures.
- Perform annual equipment inventory for each facility in the assigned region.
- Complete site surveys for existing or new facilities to determine if they are a satisfactory site as needed.
- Assist with completing quarterly and annual reports as well as attend BEP meetings and other duties as may be required for success of the program and BLVs.
Frequent in-state travel is required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State: A bachelor's degree and experience in recruitment, selection, interviewing, sales, workforce development, or a related field.
Agency: A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience. Experience may be substituted for a degree on a year-for-year equivalent basis pursuant to SC State Human Resources regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with prior experience in areas such as code enforcement, inspections, vending machine operations or sales, food service inspection, or risk management would be a strong fit for this role.
