Job ResponsibilitiesThis employee will work within SCDNR's Land, Water & Conservation Division (LWC) and will be responsible for providing technical and professional services to conservation districts and the public. Job Duties Include:
- Assisting the Conservation Districts (CD) Program Manager with the administration of programs.
- Facilitating the impact of locally-led conservation in South Carolina through improving Local Working Group (LWG) effectiveness.
- Overseeing the development of SCDNR CD reporting.
- Overseeing Statewide and Individual Conservation District Monthly Report collection and dissemination to all Conservation Districts.
- Facilitating, coordinating, and compiling long and short range planning of each Conservation District.
- Developing, identifying, and maintaining training resource needs for the 230 conservation district commissioners, more than 50 district employees, SCDNR Conservation Districts program staff, and conservation partners as appropriate.
- Overseeing the South Carolina Conservation Districts Training Program and certification implementation, review and maintenance.
- Assisting the Conservation Districts Program Manager with special projects and task forces, to include but not limited to:
- State Conservation Partnership Events, as appropriate
- State Technical Committee
- State Food and Agricultural Committee
- Conservation District Area Meetings
- National Association of Conservation Districts
- National Association of State Conservation Agencies
- State and National Local Work Group Committees
- Watershed Districts
- Coordinating with state and federal agencies on land management issues, to include planning, funding, and implementation of applicable polices and programs.
- Representing Conservation Districts Program in the absence of the Program Manager.
- Acting as liaison between CD and commissioners, other agencies, staff, and the public.
- Providing administrative reports, attending staff meetings, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional RequirementsA bachelor's degree and two (2) years of relevant program experience.
Preferred QualificationsA bachelor's degree in agriculture, environmental or natural science, forestry, wildlife biology, or other relevant field and two (2) years related experience. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of groups and individuals; ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; ability to convey accurate, concise information; knowledge of natural resource laws and processes, and the ability to implement practices; ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to analyze data and formulate sound conclusions. Ability to participate in statewide travel to DNR and Conservation District offices. Participate in some over night travel and weekend work.
