Job description

The City of Livonia is an Equal Opportunity Employer JOB RESPONSIBILITIES This job level contains the following positions: Archery Range Coordinator, Building Supervisor I, Climbing Wall Coordinator, Fitness/Wellness Instructor, Garden Supervisor, Greenmead Tour Coordinator, Lead Swim Instructor, Pool Supervisor, and Special Events Coordinator. Please see the Illustrative Examples of Work section below for more information. Archery Range Coordinator - Supervises, schedules, and trains all archery staff.

Provides and oversees maintenance of archery range and archery range equipment. Provides recommendations and assists classes, special events, and additional archery programming. Must possess at least a Level 2 USA Archery Instructor certification with advanced knowledge of the sport of archery.

Must be CPR/First Aid certified. Building Supervisor I - Supervises Recreation Center, Greenmead, or Senior Center facility operations including front desk operations, policy and procedure enforcement, guest services, maintenance needs, classes, programs, and events; supervises part-time staff. Works after-hour events/rentals.

Must be at least 19 years old. Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment. Climbing Wall Coordinator - Programs all Recreation Center Climbing Wall activities, maintenance, and route setting; schedules staff and works special wall events.

Has knowledge of and demonstrates safety procedures associated with climbing. Fitness/Wellness Instructor - Plans and instructs specialty classes/programs at Recreation Center. Must have a strong background in exercise physiology, fitness, and wellness.

Must be enrolled in an accredited certification/licensing program and/or is a currently certified/licensed instructor. Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment. Garden Supervisor - Responsible for the supervision of participants of the Garden Program at Greenmead Historical Park; assists with opening and closing of gardens; attends all gardener meetings; ensures gardeners follow planting rules and maintain gardens throughout the season; checks for weed issues; answers questions and provides assistance to gardeners.

Gardening and/or horticulture experience required. Greenmead Tour Coordinator - Assists in scheduling docents for the various historic buildings for Sunday tours and various special event dates; opens and operates gift shop during Sunday tour dates; collects admission fees for tours; provides general information about Greenmead to park users. Basic office and computer skills required.

Lead Swim Instructor - Supervises Swim Lesson Instructors; teaches in-services and trainings; evaluates program and instructors; organizes lessons on a day-to-day basis. CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred. Pool Supervisor - Supervises an Aquatic (indoor/outdoor) Facility; responsible for lifeguard staff and the cleanliness and safety of facility; teaches and/or attends skills training sessions, as instructed.

Must be at least 18 years old. Must possess a current American Red Cross Lifeguard training or nationally recognized certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification, First Aid certification, and be able to pass a swim test. Special Events Coordinator - Oversees and schedules other part-time staff; plans youth activities including but not limited to: leisure programs, archery, and special events; oversees inventory of equipment (example: archery equipment); assists participants and the public.

Must be at least 18 years old. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND APPLICATION PROCESS Be at least 16 years old (or as specified); and Be able to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays; and Have the ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds; and Have the ability to demonstrate techniques and skills associated with the position; and Aquatic Staff: must possess a current American Red Cross Lifeguard training or nationally recognized certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification, First Aid certification, and be able to pass a swim test. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Ability to: Work variable hours Follow established daily operating procedures Assure safety of participants Work effectively with the public and department personnel Perform other related duties, as assigned NOTE: Advancement to step 1.5 will happen at six months of employment

Advancement to the next step will be considered after one year of employment, if a minimum of 125 hours have been worked and a satisfactory employee evaluation has been obtained.
