Position Summary

The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) is a principal faculty member within the Physician Assistant (PA) Program at Concordia University Ann Arbor and reports to the Program Director. Supported by a collaborative team of other clinical faculty and administrative assistants, the DCE is responsible for the coordination, development, and oversight of clinical education experiences for PA students, ensuring compliance with ARC-PA Standards. A central aspect of this role is building and sustaining strong, collaborative relationships with clinical sites, preceptors, students, and faculty to foster a supportive and high-quality learning environment. This full-time, 12-month faculty position requires weekly campus attendance in Ann Arbor, Michigan with the possibility of some remote days each week and includes a full administrative release (20 credits annually) to support clinical education oversight.
Consistent with our mission, all Concordia University faculty members are members of Christian congregations; membership in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) is preferred.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
With the assistance of a collective team including the Medical Director, Assistant Director of Clinical Education, and Clinical Administrative Assistant, the DCE has the following areas of responsibility:
- Clinical Site Management: Identify, establish, and maintain clinical sites and preceptorships to provide diverse and high-quality learning opportunities for students.
- Student Support and Monitoring: Alongside other program faculty, visit clinical sites to evaluate student progress, ensure safety, and assess the quality of clinical experiences. Provide academic advising and support to clinical year students.
- Preceptor Evaluation: Assess the credentials and teaching effectiveness of preceptors, offering feedback and guidance to enhance the educational experience.
- Curriculum Oversight: Participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the clinical curriculum, which includes designing end-of-rotation experiences that foster continued growth toward meeting program competencies.
- Assessment and Remediation: Administer and evaluate End of Rotation (EOR) exams and other assessments within clinical courses. Coordinate remedial instruction and support for students as necessary. Assist in PA program assessment in collaboration with program director and program faculty.
- Program Compliance and Reporting: Maintain accurate records in the clinical tracking software (Exxat), review and update rotation syllabi and the clinical year handbook, and collect necessary clinical data to ensure ongoing compliance with ARC-PA and HLC accreditation standards.
- Faculty and Program Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with program staff and faculty, participate in committee service, faculty meetings, student selection and faculty hiring, and contribute to the ongoing self-study and improvement of the program.
- Community and Mission Engagement: Promote Concordia University's mission and foster positive relationships among faculty, staff, students, preceptors, and the broader community.
- Research, Scholarship and Service: Perform service to the program, School of Health Professions and university, and conduct peer-reviewed scholarship, as outlined in the Concordia University Faculty handbook.

Education and Experience
- Masters or Doctorate degree from an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate (PA), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Medical (MD/DO) program.
- Current or prior board certification, with eligibility for employment in Michigan.
- Current and active PA/NP/MD/DO licensure
- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience as a PA, NP, MD, or DO.
- Preferred: Experience in higher education, clinical preceptorship, and/or PA program administration or leadership.
