Job Description
The Program Director will develop and oversee the operations of the branch's youth and teen programs to meet the needs of the community. This includes planning, organizing, implementing, supervising, and evaluating all programs, budget planning, collaboration, and staff development.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Two to three years of experience in youth development, program leadership, recreation, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and supervisory.
  • Ability to complete YMCA-provided training and required certifications, including Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Demonstrated success in budget management, staff retention, program growth, and community partnerships.

  • Essential Functions
    Program Leadership & Development
    • Responsible for the development, implementation, promotion, and leadership of quality youth and teen programming, including but not limited to basketball, gymnastics, volleyball, gym activities, soccer, school-day-off camp, dance, STEAM programs, and summer day camp to meet community needs and YMCA goals.
    • Ensure programs deliver high-quality, age-appropriate curriculum and activities.
    • Design, implement, and evaluate new youth and teen programs; track participation and outcomes; and use program data to assess effectiveness and support continuous improvement.
    • Coordinate facility and program space usage to ensure activities and events are scheduled efficiently and safely.
    • Monitor and evaluate overall program effectiveness, compile statistics, and drive quality improvements.
    • Provide operational support by stepping in to assist with coverage and day-to-day program needs when necessary.

    Compliance, Safety & Administration
    • Ensure full compliance with YMCA standards and all applicable state licensing requirements, policies, regulations, and safety procedures, including maintaining accurate records, forms, and documentation.
    • Support program promotion and communication efforts, assist with registration processes, and review program scholarship applications as assigned.
    • Understand your role as a mandated reporter for elder and child abuse. Report and respond to situations in accordance with policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrate and uphold the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and growth mindset in all aspects of your work.

    Financial Management
    • Develop, implement, and manage all financials for assigned program areas, including budgeting, revenue generation, scholarship administration, and ensure programs meet or exceed budgetary goals.

    Staff Leadership & Team Development
    • Hire, train, develop, schedule, and supervise staff and volunteers, clearly communicating expectations, roles, and responsibilities.
    • Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching and feedback, and implement strategies that build engagement, accountability, and goal achievement.

    Community Engagement & Organizational Support
    • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with community organizations, schools, and partner agencies to strengthen programs and expand impact.
    • Participate in YMCA fundraising efforts, special events, and branch-wide initiatives that support member engagement and organizational goals.
