Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Purpose Statement: Inspire people to discover their God given talents and develop their potential through artistic, educational, physical, and spiritual experiences in a Christ-centered atmosphere.
Job Summary/Primary Purpose: The Aquatics Program Manager is responsible for the oversight, implementation, and evaluation of approved Aquatics programs. Provides program coordination, staff support, and administrative oversight of swim lessons and other approved Aquatics programming. This position works closely with the Aquatics Operations Manager to ensure pools are operated safely, effectively, and in alignment with department and state regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate short and long-range goals, strategies, and priorities for Aquatics programming to improve program excellence, participation, and guest satisfaction.
  • Supervise, schedule, and oversee time records for assigned Aquatics staff and follow all Divisional and Kroc Center HR policies and procedures regarding hiring, training, evaluation, discipline, and termination processes.
  • Guide, direct, and develop aquatics program staff to deliver exceptional guest engagement and positive experiences in all Aquatics programming areas.
  • Provide effective staff management to include regular guidance, oversight, coaching, and performance feedback for Aquatics program staff.
  • Develop, coordinate, and evaluate aquatic classes, swim lessons, specialty programs, events, and activities for guests of all ages.
  • Evaluate Aquatics programs, classes, and activities to measure effectiveness, and adjust ensure consistent impact and quality outcomes.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Program Administration to provide proactive, timely, and clear communication regarding Aquatics programs, events, and activities.
  • Actively utilize key performance indicators, attendance data, evaluations, and participation trends to guide decision making regarding current and future Aquatics programming.
  • Participate in and engage with community events and outreach opportunities to promote involvement with the Kroc Center and strengthen community awareness of and participation in Aquatics programming.
  • Monitor program budgets, supplies, and inventory related to Aquatics programming to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Coordinate with the Aquatics Operations Manager to support safe, effective, and organized use of the pools and maintain all appropriate safety rules, regulations and certifications.
  • Participate in the Manager on Duty program.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Provides direct supervision of Aquatics program staff, instructors, and assigned personnel.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university preferred; or three (3) plus years of experience in Aquatics programming, instruction, or program leadership. Experience in Aquatics program development and teaching.
Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
  • Effective supervisory and leadership skills, including good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate, and evaluate programs and activities.
  • English proficiency required; Spanish language skills preferred.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees.
  • Exceptional flexibility and ability to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively within a team environment.
  • Attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong independent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Moderate skills in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • General computer knowledge is required to access payroll, timekeeping, scheduling, and personal data through web-based systems.

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification required.
  • Red Cross Lifeguard and Water Park Skills certifications required or ability to attain within 60 days of hire.
  • Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT) certification preferred or ability to attain within 90 days of hire or as training becomes available.
  • Current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license or ability to attain within 90 days of hire.
  • Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification preferred or ability to attain within 120 days of hire.
  • Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training as established by The Salvation Army.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
This position requires the ability to swim and meet all physical capabilities required of a certified lifeguard and instructor. Other physical requirements include good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity. Ability to stand, bend and reach for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment. This position will require the ability to lift and/or move more than 30 pounds occasionally.
Working Conditions: The majority of the workday will be in a mixed environment including offices and a well-lighted indoor pool. The pool area is considered humid and moderately loud in nature.
The pay range for this position is $50,000 to $55,000 per year.
