About the Role

As a Business Development Intern, you'll work alongside our Business Development team to learn how enterprise deals get built from the ground up — starting with the first cold outreach and ending with a qualified opportunity in an Account Executive's hands. You'll start by observing how Business Development Representatives research accounts, craft outbound messaging, and run qualifying conversations, then move into hands-on prospecting work of your own, with a mentor reviewing your work along the way. To be direct about it: this internship is a real trial for a full-time offer, not a formality — we're genuinely evaluating fit, and you should be too.


What You'll Do

  • Build foundational knowledge of Prometheus's products and the enterprise buyers we sell to — the same foundation full-time Business Development Representatives start with.
  • Shadow how Business Development Representatives research target accounts and identify key decision-makers across industries like energy, utilities, and manufacturing.
  • Execute guided outbound outreach across phone, email, and LinkedIn, with a mentor reviewing your work along the way.
  • Shadow and learn how qualified opportunities get handed off to Account Executives for discovery.


What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone driven and self-started — someone who sees a task, finishes it, and then asks “what else can I take on?” instead of waiting to be told. The best interns in this program don't just complete what's assigned; they notice a gap, a better way to reach a prospect, or a question nobody's asked yet, and they go after it.

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program — any major welcome.
  • A genuine drive to understand how enterprise sales works, not just follow a script.
  • Comfortable picking up the phone and asking questions early and often.
  • A self-starter mentality: if you finish your assigned work early, you look for the next useful thing rather than waiting around.
  • Highly competitive and motivated by goals and performance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent) in your academic program.
  • You are excited to work onsite in our Raleigh HQ.


Program Structure

  • Semester (part-time): 12–20 hrs/week alongside classes, Fall or Spring, running 3–5 months
  • Summer (full-time): 30–40 hrs/week, an 8–10 week structured program with a defined start and end date
