The Development Assistant is a full-time position that will provide administrative, fundraising and research support to advance the organizationโ€™s philanthropic goals.ย

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:ย 
Development & Donor Relationsย 
  • Maintain accurate donor records within the donor database/CRM. ย 
  • Process gifts, pledges, and acknowledgments in a timely manner. ย 
  • Generate reports, mailing lists, and donor information as requested. ย 
  • Assist with donor stewardship activities, including thank-you letters and recognition efforts. ย 
  • Support annual campaigns, capital campaigns, grant activities, and fundraising initiatives. ย 
  • Coordinate donor communications and fundraising appeals.ย 
  • Conduct prospect research to identify, evaluate, and qualify individual, corporate, and foundation giving prospects.ย 
  • Prepare prospect profiles, briefing materials, and research summaries for development staff, executive leadership, and volunteer solicitors.ย 
  • Assist in maintaining an active donor pipeline by tracking cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities within the CRM.ย 
  • Research corporate sponsorship opportunities and community partnership prospects to support fundraising events and annual campaigns. ย 
Event Planning & Managementย 
  • Support the planning and execution of fundraising events, donor receptions, recognition programs, and community engagement activities. ย 
  • Assist with event timelines, logistics, and vendor relationships. ย 
  • Manage event registrations, RSVPs, seating arrangements, and attendee communications. ย 
  • Assist with sponsorship fulfillment and recognition opportunities. ย 
  • Coordinate volunteers and event committees as assigned. ย 
Administrative Supportย 
  • Prepare agendas, meeting materials, and minutes for development committees and volunteer groups. ย 
  • Maintain departmental files and records. ย 
  • Answer inquiries from donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners. ย 
  • Assist with purchasing and invoice processing related to development activities. ย 
  • Manage the calendar of the Chief Development Officer.ย 

QUALIFICATIONS:ย 
  • ย Experience in fundraising, event planning, nonprofit administration customer service or related fieldย 
  • Experience with fundraising software, donor databases or CRM systems preferredย 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word,ย 
  • Experience working closely with volunteers and in staffing volunteer committees/events.ย 
  • Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.ย 
  • Understanding of and enthusiasm for the mission of the YMCAย 
  • Experience in researching, planning, organizing, and managing eventsย 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team underย  tight deadlines.ย 
  • Understanding of South Coast region, other regions, and national markets.ย
