Description
The Pre-Professional Program Coordinator at Jackson State University (JSU) will have the primary responsibilities to the Pre-Law Program. The coordinator will oversee program operations, student engagement, advising support, event coordination, and external partnerships to ensure the program's growth and impact.
Examples of Duties
  • Primary responsibilities are to the Pre-Law program.
  • Additional responsibilities include supporting other pre-professional initiatives (e.g. PreMed, graduate studies).
  • Assist in coordinating the pre-law programming, including workshops, LSAT preparation, and mentorship initiatives.
  • Complete requisitions to provide stipends to relevant students as outlined by the project.
  • Complete administrative functions as directed.
  • Organize pre-professional events such as information sessions, guest lectures, law school visits, and networking opportunities with legal professionals.
  • Help establish and maintain relationships with law schools, legal organizations, and alumni to create pathways for student internships, scholarships, and mentorship opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student participation, program success metrics, and postgraduate law school placements.
  • Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Help coordinate the promotion of pre-professional initiatives through digital and print media, campus events, and recruitment activities targeting undergraduate students.
  • Work closely with faculty, university departments, and external partners to support the mission and goals of pre-professional initiatives.
  • Other duties assigned.

Typical Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Law, Education, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in program coordination, student advising, or higher education administration.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management tools.
  • Experience working with pre-professional or academic advising programs.
  • Experience in event planning and student mentorship
