POSITION SUMMARY:
The Northside Common Ministries Program Coordinator is responsible for managing daily operations of the Pleasant Valley Men's Emergency Shelter and oversight of the services provided to shelter participants and visitors. This role supervises the shelter team comprised of rotating 24-hour Resident Assistants and a Service Coordinator. The Program Coordinator is expected to identify and implement methods to strategically align services for enhanced client outcomes while providing and inspiring innovative ideas and solutions to improve services. It is vital for the Program Coordinator to draw upon research and data to meet emerging needs and collaborate with other Goodwill departments and/or community organizations to ensure appropriate community reintegration services are delivered. This position is included in the on-call rotation for shelter emergencies and may be required at times to provide hands-on support in the food pantry as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Programmatic Oversight and Leadership:
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment, including awareness of visitors and volunteers throughout the facility.
  • Communicate knowledge and information effectively across the department and interdisciplinary teams to build capacity, increase collaboration, ensure effective information flow, and inform on the department's strategic efforts.
  • Plan, direct, train and evaluate the work of program staff; hiring for vacancies as needed.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to identify and pursue methods to reduce duplication, enhance client outcomes, and align services more strategically and effectively.

Program Coordination :
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with all stakeholders (participants, employers, funders, fellow Goodwill employees and departments, etc.) to ensure quality service delivery and successful outcomes, including attendance at meetings, trainings, etc. as needed.
  • Assess and support the development and implementation of appropriate wrap-around services including but not limited to case management, workforce development, education and training, wellness, and other related family supportive services that result in participants' successful transition.
  • Assist the Director to establish Pleasant Valley Men's Shelter as the regional leader in community support service delivery which includes establishing and maintaining relationships with other providers and funders.

Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure the program(s) adhere to all guidelines and requirements to maintain applicable credentials, certifications, compliance, etc.
  • Serve as a certified team member in compliance with Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank program requirements.
  • Ensure fidelity to program and/or departmental standards, accreditation and best practices; utilizing subject matter experts as needed.

Status: Regular, Full-time, Exempt
Location: Northside Common Ministries - 1601 Brighton Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
External Hiring Range: $23.96 - $27.67
Schedule: Sunday - Thursday 9am-5pm (Flexibility required)
Travel: Required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Years of Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND 6 years of experience required. OR
  • Associates degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work or other related field AND 4 years of experience required. OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work or other related field AND 2 year of experience required.

Required:
  • Experience must be related to working with individuals residing in a shelter and/or receiving homeless services, required.

Preferred:
  • Experience with coordinating community services, preferred.

REQUIRED CLEARANCES, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Qualified candidates must have a valid driver's license, active insurance policy, and reliable transportation for local travel.
  • Candidates are expected to provide current, valid clearances (Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprints Clearance, and PATCH) prior to their first day of employment.
