Job description

Echo Grove Camp Center Program Assistant

The Echo Grove Camp (EGC) Center Program Assistant is responsible for assisting in all EGC programs including general office and program related support, assisting visitors, and staff. Serves as the main resource for questions and program guidance in the absence of the Program Director.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Program Director, as needed, in the scheduling and preparation of staffing and programming each camp.
  • Supervise and provide leadership to the summer ministry team in all areas of camp programs.
  • Maintain a positive spiritual climate for the summer ministry team through weekly meetings with everyone – How are you? Are you OK? Provide documentation.
  • Assist in enforcing policy and procedures as put in place by the Echo Grove Administration.
  • Assist in hosting Echo Grove's summer guest groups during the month of August
  • Assist in teaching or leading an activity
  • Must be able to train staff to:
    • Observe camper and staff behavior and assess its appropriateness
    • Enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures
    • Apply appropriate behavior-management techniques
  • Identify and respond to hazards
    • Work with different age and skill levels
    • Plan and conduct activities / drills
    • Physical ability to assist campers and staff in emergency (fire, severe weather, evacuation, illness, or injury)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • 2 years of summer camp experience
  • Experience in supervising staff and campers

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of summer ministry team and their program
  • Ability to relate to one's peer group
  • Ability to accept guidance and supervision
  • Desire and ability to work with children and adults outdoors
  • Christian exhibiting the principles of Christian living

Computer Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
  • Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
  • Basic computer skills

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
