SUMMARY
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Chadwick Banking Program Student Assistant supports the program director in advancing the mission of the Chadwick Banking Program in the Rusche College of Business.
The program's mission is to prepare the academic foundation upon which the future leaders of the banking and financial services industry in Texas will build their careers and advance the industry. The core focus of the program is to:
  • Offer a rigorous course of study in banking and financial services fundamentals, primarily in the community banking industry
  • Present students with a targeted post-graduation career path into the banking and financial services industry.
  • Build mutually beneficial connections between students, the community banking industry and the Rusche College of Business.
QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University. Banking or finance major preferred.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided. Basic understanding of banking fundamentals is required. Completion of the course FINC 3370 is preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Provides office assistance to the department by assisting staff in routine clerical duties and responsibilities.
  2. Provides assistance in answering phone calls, routing incoming calls, taking messages, greeting visitors, and directing visitors to appropriate staff member.
  3. Assists in file and records maintenance.
  4. Assists in the preparation and implementation of departmental project/program activities.
  5. Provides general information and/or training regarding project/program.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  2. Ability to respond to student inquiries related to the banking major and banking related career pathways.
  3. Ability to create an approachable presence within the banking program office.
  4. Ability to assist with program related events.
  5. Ability to assist the Program Director with special projects as directed.
  6. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  7. Skill in initiation and maintenance of student outreach programs to create interest in the banking program.
  8. Skill in compiling industry related information as directed.
  9. Skill in communication and interpersonal interaction.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANT
This position is located on campus and is in a publicly visible office location. Flexible hours are available based on student schedule.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
