As aLaboratory Assistant,you are responsible for the preparation of samples and/or reagents for routine processing, the performance of simple non-interpretivetests under the technical oversight of a Medical Laboratory Technologist asrequired, and the independent performance of simple non-interpretive tests escalating to a qualified Medical Laboratory Technologist for support and guidance as required. You will also ensure quality control checks and standards are run as required and participate in all quality assurance programs andensure company and Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines are observed. Lastly, you will perform routine maintenance of laboratoryequipmentas appropriateanddeal withproblems that arise.

What YOU bring to the role:
  • You are CSMLS or BCSLS certified and/or a graduate of an MLA program accredited by BCSLS or equivalent awarding body (Canadian).Alternatively, applicants with a Bachelor degree in a related scientific or health discipline, or international MLA or MLT qualification, may also be considered.
  • You are customer-focused with a genuine care for patient's health
  • Prioritize and self-manage within a deadline-oriented environment
  • Be extremely detail oriented
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, at a level that enables you to communicate instructions, clearly and understandably, to patients
  • 25 to 40 words per minute typing speed required
Pay rate: $27.00-$30.75 per hour
The hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements.
