Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the YMCA Senior Child Care Director, this position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position will plan, develop, write, administer, coordinate, and maintain the YMCA 21st CCLC Grant-funded program that will serve the district/community/students at the necessary schools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Ensure children's safety, implementing emergency procedures and risk management.
  2. Interact positively with children daily, upholding YMCA core values.
  3. Assist in creating high-quality lesson and activity plans per grant guidelines and YMCA standards.
  4. Demonstrate project management principles, providing leadership and motivating staff.
  5. Collect and analyze student data, and evaluate programs based on needs.
  6. Apply budgetary and supervisory principles, tracking and balancing budgets, and managing expenditures.
  7. Use computer software effectively and understand human resource and finance procedures.
  8. Demonstrate instructional services and effective communication with supervisors, staff, students, and parents.
  9. Recruit and hire employees and volunteers, ensuring state clearances and grant documentation are complete.
  10. Assess and address program needs, collaborating with community and agency partners to fulfill grant requirements.
  11. Report program progress and future directions to administrators and board of directors.
  12. Supervise and support project staff, ensuring smooth introduction of program elements sponsored by other organizations.
  13. Plan, publicize, recruit for, and conduct student activities per grant guidelines.
  14. Support project evaluation by gathering data, distributing surveys, and completing necessary activities.
  15. Provide support to summer programs and assist in delivering program services.
  16. Complete all YMCA-required training, attend mandatory meetings, and document children's attendance and incidents per state requirements.
  17. Consult with YMCA staff, supervisors, principals, and teachers to meet program goals and ensure accuracy of all grant-related records.
  18. Help plan and implement staff development training, maintaining site appearance and quality of supplies.
  19. Work collaboratively with child care staff, maintaining professionalism, alertness, and eliminating unsafe practices.
  20. Complete additional assignments and responsibilities as directed by the supervisor and/or CEO.

HOURS OF POSITION:

This is a part-time, hourly, in-person position based at the assigned site location during the YMCA 21st CCLC Program hours. The position is scheduled for up to 25 hours per week, year-round.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ideal candidates look to develop self & others, hold an associate's degree in human services, business, social services or equivalent (BS Preferred,) have three or more years of professional experience in the planning and implementation of youth programs, understand the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff, and have the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.

Prior to the start of employment, documentation of state clearances must be on-file.
