Job description

Overview:

We are seeking a Business Analyst to join our team and serve as the bridge between our customers, partner organizations, and our SimVentions application development team.  You will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, refining, and documenting business requirements, ensuring that our stakeholder needs are accurately translated into actionable user stories and development priorities.  You'll participate in Agile ceremonies, facilitate stakeholder collaboration, and provide project reporting to our leadership team.

This is a HYBRID role, requiring 3 days a week in our Fredericksburg, VA office

Clearance:

A Secret Clearance will be required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or related role supporting software development efforts
  • Experience eliciting, documenting, and managing requirements
  • Experience working within Agile environments
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate discussions among technical and non-technical stakeholders
Responsibilities:
  • Requirements Analysis and Management
    • Engage with customers and partner organizations to gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.
    • Refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and tasks to ensure readiness for development.
    • Analyze customer needs and translate them into clear, actionable requirements for the development team.
    • Identify dependencies, risks, assumptions, and impacts associated with proposed requirements.
    • Ensure requirements align with business objectives and program priorities.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Participate in customer-led Scrum ceremonies on behalf of the development team.
    • Participate in discussions among customers, partner organizations, and internal stakeholders to clarify requirements and priorities.
  • Agile Team Support
    • Partner with product owners, developers, and application leadership to support backlog management and prioritization.
    • Assist in planning implementation activities and release readiness efforts.
    • Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, and other Agile ceremonies as needed.
  • Reporting and Communication
    • Prepare monthly status reports summarizing accomplishments, progress, risks, and upcoming activities.
    • Maintain documentation related to requirements, decisions, and project artifacts.
    • Communicate project status and requirement changes to stakeholders and leadership.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience supporting government or defense programs.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Open Project, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and traceability
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field Compensation:

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.

The projected annual compensation range for this position is $78,000.00 - $130,000.00 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
