Yee Hong is one of the foremost providers of culturally appropriate senior care in the country, delivering high-quality resident experience and care to Chinese and other Asian seniors since 1994. The organization operates 805 long-term care beds and 308 seniors' apartment units, with an additional 224 long-term care beds opening in a new home by June 2026. In addition, Yee Hong offers four campuses of managed care, a hospice residence, and a wide range of community-based senior and caregiver support services. Through this comprehensive network, the organization serves more than 15,000 individuals annually across the Greater Toronto Area.

Program Aide - Casual

Under the direction of the Program Manager/ Program Coordinator, plans or participates in the planning of appropriate activities and providing high quality services to clients of the Day Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements and ensures smooth operation of the activities in a safe, hygienic and supportive environment

  • Provides high quality personal care to assist clients in their daily activities and personal hygiene

  • Provides meal services or assists in meal preparation and assists the clients in eating in accordance with the client's wish and ability

  • Assists the client in participating in social activities and encourages social interaction

  • Assists the team to prepare program materials

  • Responds promptly to medical emergencies and takes appropriate action

  • Assists the clients in the proper use and care of adaptive devices

  • Delivers, portions and serves meals according to diet order and client preference

  • Complies with health and safety policies to minimize the risk to clients, coworkers and self

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent

  • Completion of a C.P.R.

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Satisfactory Police Reference Check (with vulnerable sector screen) result

  • Good oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese

Physical Demands/ Working Condition:

  • This is a casual position

  • Some lifting and transfer
