Job description

The Convenience Store Cashier is responsible for providing friendly, efficient customer service while accurately handling sales transactions. This role supports daily store operations by maintaining a clean, well-stocked environment and ensuring a positive experience for every customer.

Requirements/Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
• Greet customers promptly and courteously
• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately for cash, credit, and debit transactions
• Handle cash responsibly, including making change and balancing the cash drawer
• Stock shelves, coolers, and displays as needed
• Maintain cleanliness of the sales floor, restrooms, and work areas
• Monitor inventory levels and report low or out-of-stock items
• Follow all store policies, safety procedures, and loss-prevention guidelines
• Verify age requirements for tobacco, alcohol, or lottery sales (where applicable)
• Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior cashier or customer service experience is a plus, but not required
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Basic math skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Dependable, punctual, and trustworthy
Physical Requirements
