Job description

Job Description Become a part of the Contracts Team at BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) where we work with the military, intelligence and defense customers solving the nation's most difficult challenges. As a Contract Administrator Sr. Principal in the Ground System & Services (GSS) contracts department, reporting to a Head of Contracts, you will be a mission partner enabling critical space domain defense priorities and assume a hands-on role managing a variety of contractual instruments. What You'll Do: * Serve as a Contracts Lead managing a variety of contracts to include but not limited to Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Cost Plus (CP), Other Transaction Authority (OTA), Time & Material (T&M), Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA), and Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Task Order type Contract actions. Operate as a Subject Matter Expert in all aspects of Contract Management and engage, collaborate as needed with related functions to achieve Company and Customer objectives. Work covers not only the full spectrum of contract life-cycle responsibilities, from new business to close-out but will lead non-standard actions e.g. Contract Novation actions and Bid Protests.
* Draft non-routine contractual instruments. Use excellent knowledge of corporate policies and procedures or corporate governance principles coupled with ability to identify required improvement to established policies. Use expert knowledge of contracting concepts, Uniform Commercial Code, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), applicable public contract acquisition law and regulations (FAR/DFARS/NFS).
* Provide contract negotiation and administration on the complex and/or critical programs encompassing all phases of the contract life cycle (pre-proposal - contract close out). Be responsible for collaborating with other employees in the department, cross functionally and on programs, and for establishing effective relationships with key customers.
* Assist the Head of Contracts, as well as the Organization Director in reviewing contracts and related documents to assess risk to the company and recommend mitigation approaches and ensure compliance with various federal regulations and BAE Systems policy.
* Use a high degree of critical thinking, independent and creative judgment and sound business judgement with outcomes in alignment of highest-level goals and objectives of the corporation.
* Have demonstrated technical and relationship proficiency with multiple Customers, Products and Services.
* Project confidence and demonstrate positive influence with Customers, deliver results and outcomes to the benefit of BAE Systems, Space & Mission Systems.
* Effectively represent the Contracts function to Enterprise-wide Working Groups.
* Conduct contractual presentations for internal and external management and ensure contract information on programs is accurately entered into appropriate BAE business applications.
* Advise and consult to resolve business/contractual problems with program management, internal organizations, or customer representatives including non-standard issues (e.g. Disputes / Bid Protest/ Property / Security/ Subcontracting).
* May be tasked with leading a team of two or three junior level contract professionals.
* Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
* Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required. Working Conditions: * Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor. Required Education, Experience, & Skills * BS/BA in a related field plus 8 or more years related experience.
* Each higher-level degree, i.e. master's degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Two years of related experience may be substituted for each year of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
* Government and Commercial (domestic and international desirable) contracts experience.
* Experienced with multiple Government contract Types (cost reimbursable, award fee, incentive fee, and Firm Fixed Price contracts).
* Experience in developing and implementing negotiation strategies.
* Analytical thinking, risk analysis and problem-solving skills.
* Experience as a leader with conflict resolution skills in a changing environment.
* Ability to prioritize and handle several tasks simultaneously.
* Excellent communications skills, computer fluency, agile and effective negotiator with clear oral and written explanations.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and Word applications. #LI-LO1 A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills * Related work experience in Federal government contracts.
* Active Government TS/SCI Security Clearance.

Full-Time Salary Range: $118747 - $201870 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
