Packaging Engineer I

Location: Roswell, GA (Hybrid)
Schedule: Tuesday & Wednesday onsite (required); Monday & Thursday remote
Hours: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM ET
Duration: 6-Month Contract

About the Opportunity

Join the North America Packaging Team as a Packaging Engineer I and play a key role in developing innovative packaging solutions for products across the business. In this position, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, optimize, and validate packaging that enhances product protection, reduces costs, improves sustainability, and delivers value to customers.

This is an excellent opportunity for a packaging professional with expertise in corrugated box design and ArtiosCAD who enjoys working on product development from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop innovative, cost-effective packaging solutions for new and existing products.
  • Create and optimize corrugated packaging designs using ArtiosCAD.
  • Improve packaging performance by reducing distribution costs, minimizing product damage, and supporting sustainability initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders throughout the packaging development process.
  • Coordinate and support packaging validation using ISTA and ASTM testing standards.
  • Evaluate packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and industry innovations to recommend continuous improvements.
  • Ensure packaging designs comply with North American packaging regulations and customer requirements.
  • Utilize TOPS palletization software to optimize pallet configurations and shipping efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • Approximately 3+ years of packaging engineering or related experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with ArtiosCAD and corrugated packaging design.
  • Expert-level experience using TOPS palletization software.
  • Knowledge of ISTA and ASTM packaging test methods.
  • Strong understanding of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and package performance testing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while working independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing corrugated shipping containers and packaging systems.
  • Background working with packaging manufacturers or suppliers.
  • Experience with International Paper, WestRock, Pratt Industries, or other corrugated packaging companies is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of packaging artwork integration, sustainability initiatives, and distribution requirements.
