Job description

JOB SUMMARY
As an International Tax Manager in our International Tax Practice, you will be responsible for overseeing complex international tax engagements for multinational clients, including the review of U.S. international tax filings, global tax planning strategies, and cross-border compliance. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse client base with international operations across a wide range of industries. You will manage client relationships, mentor staff, and collaborate with firm leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, timely, and value-driven international tax services.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Tax Strategy and Engagement Oversight
  • Develop and implement international tax planning strategies that align with client business goals while minimizing global tax liabilities
  • Oversee a portfolio of international tax engagements, including compliance with U.S. international tax regulations (e.g., GILTI, Subpart F, BEAT, FDII, foreign tax credits)
  • Manage the preparation and review of international-related tax forms and disclosures (e.g., Forms 5471, 8865, 8858, 1118, 8991, 8992)
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure high-quality service and client satisfaction

Research and Analysis
  • Conduct technical research on U.S. and international tax laws, treaty benefits, and global developments affecting multinational clients
  • Address complex international tax issues such as controlled foreign corporations (CFCs), permanent establishment concerns, withholding taxes, and foreign tax credit optimization
  • Contribute to internal knowledge development by leading training sessions, writing technical memos, and mentoring team members
  • Stay current on evolving global tax legislation (e.g., OECD Pillar Two, BEPS initiatives) and translate developments into actionable insights for clients

Client Communication
  • Effectively communicate complex tax concepts and strategies to clients, tailoring explanations to their understanding and addressing their questions or concerns
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients on tax-related matters, providing insights into their financial situations and potential tax implications
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor for their tax-related matters

Compliance and Documentation
  • Review and oversee the preparation of tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance with regulations, and adherence to internal quality control standards
  • Monitor and manage tax filing deadlines, extensions, and other compliance requirements to avoid penalties and ensure timely submissions
  • Stay current with federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and changes, ensuring the firm and its clients are compliant with the latest tax requirements

Team Collaboration
  • Collaborate with other tax professionals within the firm to share insights, knowledge, and best practices
  • Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing guidance, training, and feedback to foster their professional growth and ensure the quality of their work
  • Cultivate a collaborative team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and effective communication among team members
  • Participate in internal training sessions to enhance your technical skills and stay updated on industry trends

Process Improvement and Innovation
  • Identify opportunities to enhance tax workflows, processes, and methodologies, contributing to the continuous improvement of the firm's tax services
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality control procedures, including reviewing and approving tax filings, documentation, and client deliverables

Strategic Business Development
  • Collaborate with partners and senior management to identify business development opportunities, cultivate client leads, and contribute to the firm's growth strategy
  • Participate in proposal development and presentations to prospective clients

Supervisory responsibilities
  • Will supervise subordinate team members

Work environment
  • Work is conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractions

Physical demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time

Travel required
  • Travel may be frequent and unpredictable, depending on client's needs
  • Limited travel may be requested for attending events, conferences, or internal meetings

Required education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 5 - 8 years of relevant experience
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent license
  • Experience in professional service environment, such as a CPA firm, financial consulting firm, or similar setting
  • Specific positions may require additional industry or specialization certifications
  • Responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement
  • Software: CCH Prosystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax Research

Preferred education and experience
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree for specialty positions
