The Fall Line is a premier private destination golf and sporting club located in Southwest Georgia. The Club features two 18-hole golf courses designed by Ogilvy, Cocking and Mead, a 9-hole short course, and world-class shooting, hunting, and angling facilities. Multiple dining and lodging options, together with a 25-acre working farm, support an exceptional hospitality experience across the Club’s 4,500-acre property.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Range Safety Officer supports the Game Manager in the safe, efficient, and member-focused operation of The Fall Line’s shooting facilities and related outdoor programs. This position is responsible for supervising shooting activities, enforcing all safety standards, providing instruction, maintaining equipment and facilities, and helping ensure an exceptional experience for members and guests. The Range Safety Officer may also assist with fishing activities and hunts as operational needs require.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely supervise individual and group shooting sessions on the five-stand and sporting clays ranges.
- Consistently enforce all Club firearm, range, and shooting-sports safety rules and immediately address unsafe conduct.
- Provide clear shooting instruction and coaching to improve member and guest safety, confidence, satisfaction, and success.
- Conduct daily inspections of clay target machines, shooting stations, firearms, and related equipment before use.
- Perform or assist with preventive maintenance and minor repairs to clay target machines; remove equipment from service when a safety or operating issue is identified.
- Clean and properly store shooting facilities, firearms, and related equipment at the end of each operating day.
- Work with the Game Manager to maintain accurate inventories of clay targets, ammunition, and other shooting supplies.
- Assist with the daily maintenance, organization, and inventory of fishing equipment and tackle.
- Assist members and guests participating in fishing activities, as requested.
- Assist with hunts and other sporting activities when assigned and qualified to do so.
- Report equipment failures, safety concerns, incidents, near misses, and member-service issues promptly to the Game Manager.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of Club operations.
MEMBER AND GUEST RELATIONS
- Welcome members and guests and provide professional, attentive, and safety-focused service.
- Clearly communicate range procedures, firearm-handling expectations, and equipment instructions before activities begin.
- Address equipment, operating, or safety concerns calmly and professionally as they arise.
- Maintain a high level of discretion, courtesy, and responsiveness consistent with The Fall Line’s service standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- At least one year of shooting-range operations, range-safety, shooting-instruction, or closely related experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe shotgun handling, function, and operation.
- Working knowledge of clay target machine operation and basic maintenance.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the Club’s driving requirements, when operating Club vehicles or equipment.
- Ability to work a flexible seasonal schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience providing shotgun or sporting-clays instruction.
- Current range-safety, shooting-instructor, first-aid, CPR/AED, or related certifications.
- Military, law-enforcement, hunting-guide, or outdoor-sports experience.
- Experience assisting with fishing or hunting programs.

- Strong safety awareness and sound judgment in environments involving firearms, ammunition, moving equipment, and outdoor activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to professionally interact with members, guests, coworkers, and vendors.
- Ability to provide clear instruction to participants with varying levels of shooting experience.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently while remaining aligned with the Game Manager and other Club leaders.
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining clean, organized, and presentation-ready facilities.
PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in heat, cold, rain, humidity, wind, and other varied weather conditions.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including on uneven outdoor terrain.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and repeatedly lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely handle firearms, ammunition, clay targets, tools, fishing equipment, and related sporting equipment.
- Ability to work in an environment with loud and sudden noise; required hearing and eye protection must be worn as directed.
