Job Title: IT Network and Telecommunication Journey (OIympia) Location: Olympia WA, Thurston County (Flexible/Hybrid) Closes: July 1st, 2026 Salary: $84,120.00 - $113,148.00 Annually The Opportunity: The DCYF Application Development team is seeking an API/Microservices Developer to help build and support critical Child Welfare systems used across Washington State. This role offers the opportunity to work with modern technologies, including .NET, C#, REST APIs, cloud-based solutions, mobile applications, system integrations, and AI-enabled services that improve business processes and service delivery. Working in a collaborative Agile environment, the developer will partner with technical and business teams to design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable solutions that support children and families
This position also provides opportunities to contribute to modernization efforts, cloud initiatives, AI adoption, and enterprise technology strategies while growing technical skills through ongoing professional development and training. Some of what you will get to do: Creating, upgrading, maintaining, enhancing, testing and replacing existing applications Participates in iterative process improvements regarding the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Designs and develops interfaces with business partners (state agencies as well as third party.) Collaborates with DevOps teams to ensure regular, controlled deployment of updates to existing database driven applications
Troubleshooting and resolving complex application, interface and data related issues. Ensures security and privacy requirements are met. Monitors health and function of applications, reacts and responds to problems.
Embraces agile software development principles and values. Participates in technical reviews to include design reviews, code reviews, technical and functional documentation reviews, and security audits; develops solutions for corrections as necessary. Resolves incidents for stakeholders, customers, and partners by pragmatically working through the incident's possible origins until a cause is identified and mitigated or resolved.
Required Qualifications: Equivalent combination of education and experience in Information Technology, totaling ten (10) years. OR Bachelor's degree in computer science, networking, information systems or a related field AND six (6) years of progressively more complex problem solving as a developer designing, developing or maintaining large-scale applications with mission critical business functions. AND The ability to take action to learn and grow The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.
Additional Qualifications: Working knowledge of Agile values and principles as they apply to application development. Working knowledge of Scrum development methodologies, artifacts and traditions. Working knowledge of GIT Hub or source control technologies.
Working knowledge of DevOps concepts. Experience working in a highly regulated environment where IT assets and data are subject to a broad range of State and federal information security requirements and regulations. *Experience may be gained concurrently.
