Job description

Meyer Utility Structures is searching for a Shipping/Receiving Supervisor for our plant located in Clinton, IL. Reporting to the Materials Manager, this position will supervise shipping and receiving functions and departments. The successful candidate must be able to accurately forecast and execute our transportation needs to ensure delivery schedules are on time. This is a team oriented, metrics driven role that requires a high degree of multitasking.
Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. With over sixty years of innovative engineering and manufacturing expertise, Meyer has helped to author and validate many of today's transmission industry standards and specifications.
What You'll Do:

  • Establish functional business plans and technical objectives to meet short- and long-term goals
  • Support and participate in all safety activities to maintain a safety-first culture
  • Coordinate and supervise daily activities of non-exempt and hourly employees
  • Drive and communicate daily metrics to achieve forecast goals
  • Set priorities and make schedules for the team to ensure task completion
  • Monitor costs/spend to match goals in the PL forecast
  • Interpret and execute policies and procedures in accordance with Arcosa policies
  • Audit processes to ensure quality and cost effectiveness
  • Map/track daily times: vacation, absenteeism and discipline of those who report to you
  • Coordinate needed transportation at the right time and for the best price
  • Continually track both finished and unfinished customer goods and coordinates with the shipping department, outside vendors, and customers to ensure quick and efficient deliveries
  • Communicate transportation status updates to stakeholders on a continual and as needed basis
  • Finalize loads, create shipping documents, and communicate with shipping dispatchers frequently
  • Evaluate freight classifications and operating efficiency to ensure proper delivery of products
  • Communicate with carriers to troubleshoot unexpected issues, which may be at times outside normal business hours
  • Other duties and assignments as needed
What You'll Need:
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute short- and long-term operational plans, aligning department goals with business objectives
  • Working knowledge of workplace safety programs and the ability to lead participation in safety activities, reinforcing a safety-first culture
  • Prior supervisory experience leading hourly/non-exempt teams, including coaching, direction, and day-to-day work coordination
  • Ability to define, track, and communicate daily performance metrics; comfortable using data to drive results against forecasts
  • Proven scheduling and prioritization skills to ensure timely completion of daily tasks and shipments
  • Ability to interpret and consistently apply company policies and standard operating procedures
  • Familiarity with timekeeping and attendance tracking (vacation/absenteeism) and the ability to support fair, consistent discipline processes
  • Ability to track finished/unfinished goods and coordinate effectively with internal shipping teams, vendors, and customers to meet delivery commitments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to provide timely transportation status updates to stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot transportation exceptions; ability to respond as needed outside normal business hours
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
