Job Description:
  • We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Purchasing Manager to lead the procurement function for our agricultural equipment manufacturing operations.
  • The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for sourcing quality components, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and maintaining inventory to meet production schedules.
  • This role is key in ensuring timely delivery of high-quality materials that meet engineering specifications and production demands.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and manage purchasing strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers for raw materials, mechanical components, fabrication services, and outsourced assemblies specific to ag equipment.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve best value while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure purchased components meet technical specifications.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels in coordination with production needs and forecasts.
  • Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and develop corrective action plans.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier consolidation, alternative sourcing, and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage purchasing activities, purchase orders, and inventory transactions.
  • Prepare regular reports on key performance metrics, including cost, quality, and on-time delivery.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (highly preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management in a manufacturing environment, preferably ag equipment or heavy machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical components, steel fabrication, hydraulics, and commodity materials.
  • Proven negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and understand engineering requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPM certification.
  • Experience in ISO9001:2015 certified manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or just-in-time inventory systems.
  • Familiarity with international sourcing and logistics.

Work Environment:
  • This is a hybrid remote position that will operate out of both Manteca and Gridley locations.
  • This position is combined indoor and outdoor settings which includes exposure to hot work, chemicals, paints, and higher temperatures for brief periods. Time in the field includes being exposed to outdoors, other office settings, dirt, noise, uneven surfaces, and excessive heat or cold.
