Job description

Golf Bay Support / Golf Operations Assistant
Gimme's Par & Grill | Downtown Grand Rapids
Love golf? Looking for a way to get your foot in the door in the golf industry?
Gimme's Par & Grill is looking for energetic, dependable team members to join our golf operations team as Golf Bay Support / Golf Operations Assistants.
This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone who has worked around golf - cart staff, bag staff, caddies, driving range attendants, junior golf, course employees - or simply loves the game and wants to start building experience in the golf industry.
You'll work alongside our Golf Professionals and hospitality team while learning the day-to-day operation of a high-volume indoor golf facility, including TrackMan golf simulators and TruGolf Multisport technology.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Your job is simple: keep our golf operation running smoothly and make sure every bay is ready for the next guest.
Golf Bay Operations
  • Quickly clean, reset and flip golf bays between reservations
  • Make sure bays are fully stocked with golf balls, tees and other necessary equipment
  • Organize and maintain house golf clubs
  • Check bays before reservations to ensure equipment and technology are ready
  • Help guests with basic simulator operation
  • Assist with troubleshooting TrackMan and TruGolf Multisport systems
  • Communicate equipment or technology problems to Golf Professionals and management
  • Help keep reservations running on time and bays ready for incoming groups
Guest & Hospitality Support
You'll also serve as the support team for our Golf Servers and Bartenders.
That includes:
  • Running drinks, waters and food to golf bays
  • Clearing plates, glassware and empty cans
  • Pre-bussing bays throughout reservations
  • Helping reset tables and seating areas
  • Responding quickly to spills or guest needs
  • Keeping golf areas clean and organized throughout the shift
  • Assisting servers and bartenders during busy periods

Think of this position as the busser, food runner and server assistant specifically for our golf operation - with a golf operations component that you'll learn along the way.
Facility Support
Everyone helps keep Gimme's looking great. You may also:
  • Vacuum golf bays and surrounding areas as needed
  • Clean spills and high-traffic areas
  • Roll silverware
  • Restock service stations
  • Organize golf equipment
  • Keep clubs, balls, tees and supplies ready for guests
  • Help with other golf or hospitality tasks when needed
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
This isn't meant to be a dead-end support job.
We want the right people to become knowledgeable members of our golf operation.
You'll be trained on:
  • TrackMan simulator operation
  • TruGolf Multisport
  • Golf bay setup and troubleshooting
  • Golf reservation procedures
  • Guest interaction and hospitality
  • Indoor golf operations
  • Equipment care and organization
  • How a high-volume golf and hospitality facility operates

Our Golf Professionals will help guide and train you, and you'll be expected to continually improve your knowledge of our golf technology and operations.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You may be a great fit if you:
  • Love golf and want to work around the game
  • Have worked as cart staff, bag staff, a caddie, range attendant or in another golf-course position
  • Are interested in eventually pursuing a career in golf, hospitality or sports
  • Are comfortable learning new technology
  • Move quickly and stay productive without constantly being told what to do
  • Notice when something needs to be cleaned, stocked or fixed - and handle it
  • Enjoy helping guests
  • Work well with Golf Professionals, servers, bartenders and managers
  • Can stay organized during busy shifts
  • Are dependable and show up ready to work

Availability Requirement: Applicants must have Friday evening availability and open availability on Saturdays and Sundays. Because these are our busiest golf periods, we are unable to consider candidates who cannot consistently meet this weekend availability requirement.
Previous golf-course experience is a plus, but not required.
Golf knowledge and enthusiasm are important. We'll teach the right person the rest.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
A great Golf Bay Support team member is always one step ahead.
When a group finishes, you're already preparing the bay for the next reservation.
When glasses and plates are piling up, you're clearing them.
When a server is slammed, you're helping run drinks and food.
When a bay is missing tees or golf balls, you've already restocked it.
When a guest needs help with TrackMan, you know how to assist them - or quickly get the right person involved.
And when everything is caught up, you find the next thing that needs attention.
A GREAT FIRST STEP INTO THE GOLF INDUSTRY
If you've spent a summer working carts or bags at a golf course and are wondering "what's next?", this could be it.
You'll get experience with some of the leading technology in modern golf while working directly with Golf Professionals and learning both the golf and hospitality sides of the business.
We're looking for people who want to work hard, learn the operation and become increasingly valuable members of the Gimme's golf team.
