Job description

Title of Role: Production Shift Lead

Department: 2980

Reports to: Production Manager

FLSA Designation: Hourly, Non-exempt

Supervision Received/Exercised: Direct supervision exercised for production staff on shift

***This is for C Shift: 10pm-630a

Role Summary

The Production Shift Lead is responsible for assisting the Production Supervisor in ensuring and overseeing all production and support activities on assigned shift. Responsible for the promotion of company values and to be a resource, providing support for employees they oversee. Duties include, ensuring all employees comply with company policies and procedures, as apply to manufacturing, quality, safety, GMP’s, housekeeping and resources. The Production Shift Lead also plays a key role ensuring the documentation to support production processes is accurate and complete.


Role Responsibilities:

Essential functions of the role, but are not limited to the following:

PRODUCTION SUPPORT & LEADERSHIP 80% of time

• Maximize IMA uptime through consistent influence of resources including Machine Operators, Tea Support, QA, and Maintenance Technicians

• Maintains a viable training plan incorporating efficiency and yield assumptions, learning-curves, quality expectations, safe work practices, etc. for production staff in order to ensure accuracy and quality.

• Monitor the movement of raw materials between the warehouse and manufacturing for accuracy and proper assignment

• Assists operators and mechanics in trouble shooting initial cause of machine failure and provides miscellaneous support wherever necessary to keep production lines efficient including dumping tea, moving, and staging components.

• Advanced experience and understanding of operation of all peripheral production equipment as well as IMA machines, i.e., Ishida scales, glue machines, case packers, ink jet print systems, conveyors MARKSnMORE

• Performs any and all other assigned tasks

• Models best in class company values, teamwork, quality standards, performance, attendance and at all times.

• Lead Machine Operators with equal emphasis on efficiencies, safety, quality, costs and morale for assigned shift

• Establish, nurture and develop partnerships with stakeholders throughout

• Ensures facility security and personnel safety

• Understand and conduct incident investigations


DOCUMENTATION 20% of time

• Accurately prepare, complete, review and approve all related production documents and reports, i.e. BPR’s, yield reconciliation, QC checklists, shift pass downs and various logs

• Assists in the collection and administration of personnel performance documentation

• Responsible for manual waste count and recording


Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

• Skill in IMA operation, (C23 & C24) and Brenton’s

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with Teams, Outlook and Excel

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Familiar with compliance / GMP’s and CFR Part 111 Dietary Supplement Regulations

• Familiarity with the Basics of Supervision and experience positively leading and impacting a team

• EWTC products, production, policies, and procedures

• Continuous Improvement concepts

• Operate forklifts and electric pallet jacks

• Understand and conduct incident investigations

• Stand, walk, climb stairs and climbing on and off a forklift

• Full range of motion to bend, stoop, twist, turn, reach, climb and kneel required

• Sitting at workstations for extended periods of time


Minimum Requirements:

• 2 years of experience in Manufacturing environment – high speed preferred

• Experienced in report writing, data entry and general computer skills

• Safe forklift operation

• Proficiency in equipment operation

• Demonstration of positive performance, behavior and attendance record.
