Job Title: Production Operator

Job Description

This role involves operating machinery to manufacture products for the oil and gas industry. You will set up, run, and shut down production equipment, monitor product quality, handle raw materials, and perform data entry related to production activities. The position requires working 12-hour rotating continental shifts in a clean, safety-focused manufacturing environment and performing regular heavy lifting of materials up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in daily toolbox meetings focused on safety and reviewing the work plan for the shift.
  • Set up, run, and shut down automated and extrusion manufacturing equipment according to established procedures.
  • Monitor machines and production processes to maintain consistent product quality and respond promptly to any issues.
  • Verify raw materials prior to use and at key stages throughout the manufacturing process to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Record manufacturing and production data accurately using computer-based databases and reporting systems.
  • Use measurement equipment, such as tape measures and calipers, to verify product dimensions and quality.
  • Operate forklifts, power pallets, manufacturing equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Perform repetitive tasks and handle heavy lifting of materials up to 50 lbs, averaging 30โ€“40 lbs, as required to feed and unload machines.
  • Follow 5S principles to maintain organization and support performance goals on the production floor.
  • Conduct all work in accordance with safety programs, procedures, and policies, with a strong emphasis on safe work practices.
  • Perform operator-level preventative maintenance on equipment to support reliable and efficient operation.
  • Support, mentor, and assist other operators to ensure smooth production and knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Understand and follow procedures, processes, equipment operations, and product requirements relevant to the production line.
  • Accept guidance, leadership, and supervision to achieve production and safety goals.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative atmosphere within the workplace through professional communication and teamwork.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in alignment with company standards.
  • Stand for long periods and perform continuous production tasks throughout 12-hour shifts.
  • Report any problems, abnormalities, or equipment issues promptly to the Lead Operator or designated supervisor.
  • Work overtime as required by picking up additional shifts to support production demands.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis, with frequent lifting in the 30โ€“40 lb range.
  • Ability and willingness to work rotating 12-hour continental shifts (7 a.m.โ€“7 p.m. and 7 p.m.โ€“7 a.m.) on an ongoing basis.
  • Comfort with standing for long periods and performing repetitive production tasks throughout the shift.
  • Basic computer skills to enter and record manufacturing data in databases and reporting systems.
  • Strong focus on safety and adherence to safety programs, procedures, and policies in a production environment.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and instructions for setting up, operating, and shutting down manufacturing equipment.
  • Physical stamina and reliability to work in a fast-paced production facility handling fiberglass and plastic materials.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience using hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers in a production or construction setting.
  • Experience using power tools including drills, reciprocating saws, and other shop tools.
  • Experience with measurement equipment such as tape measures and calipers for checking product dimensions.

Why Work Here?

You will join a stable, long-term opportunity with clear paths for advancement as you gain experience across multiple areas of the production process. The company invests in your development by providing training and certification on forklifts and power pallet equipment, helping you build valuable, transferable skills. You will work in a clean production environment and benefit from regular bi-weekly town hall meetings where lunch is provided, fostering open communication and team engagement. Once you transition to permanent status, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package through a major provider, supporting your health and financial well-being. The culture strongly rewards safety and initiative, including special recognition programs where those who go above and beyond, especially in safety, can earn additional rewards such as gift cards.

Work Environment

The production facility employs approximately 60 people, with about 25โ€“30 team members working per shift. You will work a continental rotating shift schedule consisting of 12-hour shifts: Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for a rotation, then Monday to Thursday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. for the next rotation, with significant time off built into the schedule and regular Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. Overtime may be required by picking up additional shifts when production demands increase. The environment is clean, organized, and highly safety-focused, with safety prioritized before efficiency. Personal protective equipment includes steel toe boots, ear plugs (provided), and safety glasses (provided). You will work around production machinery, forklifts, power pallets, hand tools, and power tools, and you will spend most of your shift on your feet performing repetitive tasks and lifting materials.
