How much do production laborer jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 26, 2026, the average hourly pay for production laborer in the United States is $17.48, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $15.87 and $18.75 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What does a production laborer do?

A production laborer performs manual tasks in manufacturing or processing environments, such as assembling products, operating machinery, and handling materials. They often work in shifts, follow safety protocols, and may need basic skills in equipment operation and physical stamina.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

Production laborers typically do not earn $10,000 a month without specialized skills or experience. High-paying roles that can reach this level often involve skilled trades, sales, or management positions that may require certifications or extensive experience rather than formal degrees.

What are some common challenges faced by Production Laborers, and how can they be overcome?

Production Laborers often encounter challenges such as repetitive tasks, maintaining consistent work quality under time pressures, and adapting to changes in production schedules. To overcome these, it's important to practice proper ergonomics to reduce fatigue, stay organized to keep up with workflow demands, and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. Employers typically provide training on safety procedures and encourage teamwork, which can help new hires adjust and succeed in the role.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

Production laborer roles typically do not pay $2,000 a day; such high daily earnings are usually associated with specialized professions like surgeons, corporate executives, or highly skilled consultants. Some freelance or contract jobs in fields like consulting, law, or finance can reach that level, but they often require advanced qualifications, experience, or self-employment arrangements.

What are production laborers?

Production laborers are workers who perform a variety of tasks on the production floor in manufacturing or processing plants. Their duties typically include assembling products, operating machinery, packaging goods, and maintaining a clean work environment. Production laborers often work as part of a team and may be required to follow safety protocols and quality standards. This role is essential for ensuring that production processes run smoothly and efficiently. No specialized education is usually required, but on-the-job training is common.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Production Laborer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Production Laborer, you need physical stamina, attention to detail, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with manufacturing equipment, safety protocols, and sometimes forklift certification are typically required. Reliability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic are valuable soft skills in this role. These skills ensure efficient production processes, maintain workplace safety, and contribute to overall team productivity.

What is the difference between Production Laborer vs Manufacturing Associate?

AspectProduction LaborerManufacturing Associate
CredentialsHigh school diploma or equivalent; on-the-job trainingHigh school diploma or equivalent; may require basic technical skills
Work EnvironmentFactories, production lines, warehousesFactories, assembly lines, manufacturing plants
Industry UsageCommon in manufacturing, construction, and industrial sectorsPrimarily in manufacturing and assembly industries
Job DutiesLoading, unloading, basic equipment operationAssembling, inspecting, operating machinery

Both roles are essential in manufacturing environments, often requiring similar credentials and working in factory settings. While a Production Laborer typically performs manual tasks like loading and unloading, a Manufacturing Associate may have more responsibilities in assembly and quality checks. The roles are closely related and often overlap, but the Manufacturing Associate may involve more technical skills depending on the specific job.

What jobs will no longer exist in 2030?

Production laborer roles may decline by 2030 due to automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies reducing the need for manual labor. Jobs involving repetitive tasks are increasingly replaced by machines, though roles requiring complex problem-solving and technical skills will continue to evolve. Workers in this field should focus on developing skills in operating and maintaining automated systems.
