Job description

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Test Lab Manager within our laboratoryteam to help support our bedding business. Since then, we have been an industry leader in guaranteeing you get the best sleep possible. If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.
As a Test Lab Manager you will have the opportunity to perform the performance testing of products. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by ensuring all lab procedures are conducted properly and within company standards. The team you will be working with is collaborative and innovative, and values challenging work and diversity of thought.
So, what will you be doing as a Test Lab Manager?
  • Perform physical, mechanical, and performance testing on products and components using standardized test methods.
  • Interpret and apply industry testing standards to ensure product compliance and safety.
  • Ability to interpret data and create testing reports designed to effectively communicate to a wider range of positions and functions.
  • Perform and document routine system checks, preventive maintenance, and calibration activities.
  • Record, analyze, and clearly document test results with high accuracy and full traceability, producing stakeholder-ready reports for immediate review.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development, Quality, and Sourcing teams to align on testing needs.
  • Actively seek opportunities to improve lab processes, increase efficiency, and enhance quality.
  • Develop work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor lab technicians, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to support skill development.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:
  • Minimum of a 2-year technical degree or 5 years of relevant technical and management experience.
  • Hands-on lab experience, communication, records management, technical-competence, analytical problem-solving.
  • Experienced in MS Excel and database management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple priorities and projects.
