The Virtual Production Lab is incorporated into the College of Design's Operation's unit, which also consists of IT services, Digital Fabrication services, and Materials Lab. The Virtual Production Lab will augment the media production services currently available.

Essential Job Duties
NC State's College of Design is in search of a full-time Virtual Production Lab (VPL) Manager proficient in assessing challenges, resolving problems, and implementing plans to mitigate risk and technical obstacles.
Job duties include:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of VPL
  • Maintenance of VPL equipment and software
  • Manage Virtual Production projects, keeping digital assets organized, managing UE4/UE5 scene data
  • Give tutorials and periodic demonstrations of Virtual Production Technology to students, faculty, staff, and various stakeholders
  • Develop workflows and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Provide technical support and training
  • Supervise and train student workers or users on equipment use, safety, etc.
  • Coordinate scheduling for VPL usage
  • Monitor inventory, oversee procurement, and manage software licenses
  • Ensure compliance with university policies and applicable safety standards

Other Responsibilities
  • Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience related to the area of assignment in a Broadcast Television, Radio and Emergingmedia Environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Unreal Engine (UE4/UE5) and Virtual Production pipelines and equipment.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of navigating technical obstacles in high-stakes production and/or academic environments and the ability to translate creative vision into technical implementation.
  • Extensive professional experience in filmmaking, broadcast, or digital media production.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Unreal Engine (UE4/UE5), digital cinematography, motion capture workflows, and real-time rendering.
