Is content writing dead after Chatgpt?

Product writers and other content creators continue to find value in human-generated content, as AI tools like ChatGPT are often used to assist rather than replace original writing. Success in content writing now often involves combining AI tools with strong research, editing, and storytelling skills to produce high-quality material. The role remains relevant, especially for tasks requiring creativity, nuance, and strategic thinking.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Product Writer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Product Writer, you need strong writing and editing skills, a solid understanding of product features, and experience in technical or marketing communications. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), collaboration platforms, and tools like Google Docs or Figma is typically required. Attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to translate complex information into user-friendly content are standout soft skills. These abilities ensure clear, persuasive communication that helps users understand and engage with products effectively.

How does a Product Writer typically collaborate with product managers and designers during the product development process?

Product Writers play a key role in bridging communication between product managers, designers, and users. They often participate in cross-functional meetings to understand product features and user needs, ensuring that messaging is clear and consistent across all touchpoints. Product Writers may draft user interface copy, help guides, and release notes, working closely with designers to align voice and tone, and with product managers to clarify technical details. This collaborative environment helps ensure a seamless user experience and cohesive product storytelling.
