Spyglass Talent Solutions, a retained recruitment firm, has been engaged by our client to conduct a search for an Assistant Production Manager at their Youngsville, NC facility.

Our client's Countertop Surfaces division delivers high-volume, high-quality countertop fabrication and installation for the nation's largest homebuilder's.

The Assistant Production Manager will work under the direction of the Director of Production to oversee the production team, ensure efficient facility operations, and meet daily production goals while maintaining safety standards. This role coordinates closely with scheduling and HR, manages inventory, and ensures timely job completion โ€” all while fostering a high-performance team culture.

Key Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with the scheduling team during the week to understand upcoming weekend volume and job priorities; ensure adequate personnel, equipment, and supplies are available.
  • Ensure equipment is functioning and available; address issues as they arise.
  • Notify the crew of square footage goals and job expectations.
  • Coordinate weekly with HR using the Paycor system to manage hiring for Material Handler, Quality Control (QC), and CNC Polisher positions.
  • Arrive on-site to prepare the shop and pull materials for production start.
  • Perform an accurate count of available polishers and polishing pads before shifts to ensure production needs are met; monitor and manage inventory throughout the weekend.
  • Oversee saw operation and polishing workflow to ensure job completion meets builder dates; work to cover any gaps and mitigate overtime.
  • Communicate any incomplete jobs promptly.
  • Lead and manage the production team effectively toward an initial goal of 5,000 sq ft of production per day, with a growth goal of 6,000 sq ft per day.
  • Foster a high-performance team culture focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Ensure all safety regulations and protocols are followed, including proper machine and forklift operation, PPE use, and adherence to safety guidelines.

  • 2+ years of working experience
  • Ability to get along well with people and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Ability to work under conditions with changing priorities, short deadlines, and multiple work assignments.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods, bend, stoop, or reach as needed, and regularly lift/move up to 30 lbs (infrequently up to 75 lbs).
  • Ability to use a respirator and pass a respirator fit test.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperature/humidity conditions and around shop odors, dust, and noise.
