Job Description

As a Product Manager for the Recon Solutions and Services release train within Cox Automotive, you will be responsible for the One Recon platform - a modern, unified technology hub designed to consolidate fragmented legacy recon tools and manual processes into a single, seamless experience for Manheim auction sites and their reconditioning operations.

In this role, you will translate business strategy and stakeholder insights into actionable product plans, define and prioritize requirements at the epic and feature level, and maintain a well-groomed product roadmap. You will collaborate closely with release train leaders and team members across product, engineering, UX, and operations to ensure timely, high-quality delivery of platform capabilities that maximize value for auction operators and support teams. Your responsibilities will span product discovery, roadmap definition in partnership with product leadership, stakeholder engagement, go-to-market planning, and identification of future platform opportunities based on organizational objectives and operational needs.

This role requires strong platform thinking, a working understanding of APIs and integrations, and the ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on product execution - ensuring the One Recon platform continues to drive measurable operational improvements and supports Cox Automotive's leadership in auction reconditioning services.

Primary Duties & Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Roadmap:

  • Partner closely with product leadership to ensure alignment on priorities, strategic direction, and planned work across the team.

  • Define and maintain the One Recon platform roadmap in alignment with organizational objectives and the operational needs of Manheim auction sites.

  • Drive innovation in platform capabilities, recon workflow tooling, and integration with vendor and auction systems.

  • Collaborate with product leadership to prioritize strategic initiatives and quarterly planning, with a focus on replacing legacy tools and eliminating manual processes.

Stakeholder & Market Insight:

  • Conduct product discovery to deeply understand the problems and workflows of auction site operators before defining solutions.

  • Gather feedback from auction operators, operations partners, and internal teams to create clear plans for new features or enhancements that balance individual site needs with enterprise-wide platform value.

  • Analyze platform usage patterns, research operational trends, and identify opportunities to improve recon efficiency across Manheim's auction network.

  • Serve as subject matter expert on recon workflows, auction operations, and the underlying systems and integrations that support them.

Execution & Delivery:

  • Partner with engineering, UX, and architecture teams to deliver high-quality platform features and integrations on time.

  • Define epics and features that translate operational requirements and stakeholder needs into actionable development work.

  • Own product backlog definition and maintenance at the epic and feature level in close partnership with product leadership, ensuring clear requirements and delivery accountability.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Go-To-Market Execution:

  • Drive stakeholder alignment through clear, consistent communication of platform strategy and release updates.

  • Support product marketing efforts including release communications, documentation, and enablement for auction operators and operations partners.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with auction site operators, operations partners, engineering, UX, and product teams across Cox Automotive.

Performance & Optimization:

  • Monitor platform KPIs, feature adoption metrics, and operational efficiency indicators.

  • Identify opportunities for workflow automation, process improvement, and platform consolidation.

  • Support product issue resolution and continuously optimize the One Recon platform based on stakeholder feedback and usage data.

Required Experience, Specialized Knowledge & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, data analytics, or a related discipline and 2 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and up to 2 years' experience; or 6 years' experience in a related field.

  • 2+ years' experience in Product Management or Product Owner roles, preferably with data products or APIs.

  • Proficient in writing SQL and querying data to understand product data quality and stakeholder use cases.

  • Strong understanding of data products, APIs, data platforms, and cloud technologies. Automotive industry experience or knowledge of retail automotive data a plus.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and backlog management tools (Rally preferred).

  • Familiarity with GraphQL and modern API query patterns.

  • Foundational skills in managing multiple priorities, requirements analysis, data modeling, and technology integration.

  • Acts with integrity and has foundational skills in building cross-functional partnerships with stakeholders, driving innovation, focusing on execution, and striving for excellence.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to craft clear written materials and present ideas effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
