ABOUT THIS ROLE
As a Product Manager II on Apex's Trading team, you will manage the lifecycle of a major trading capability-spanning multi-asset order management, portfolio trading and rebalancing, and trade execution-balancing client needs, market-structure and regulatory constraints, and business goals. You will define success metrics such as adoption, execution quality, and reliability; coordinate go-to-market plans; ensure operational readiness across the trade desk, operations, and compliance; and partner with senior product leaders on longer-term strategy and complex trade-offs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Own a Trading product or major capability (e.g., multi-asset order management, portfolio rebalancing and model management, or execution and routing services) with support from a Senior PM or above; define a near- to mid-term roadmap and release plan.
  • Lead discovery by synthesizing feedback from fintech, broker-dealer, and advisory clients, order flow and usage data, and market-structure and competitive signals into clear problem statements and hypotheses.
  • Translate strategy into PRDs/epics across the order lifecycle-order entry and validation, routing, execution, allocations, and trade booking; manage the product-level backlog across one or more teams; clarify scope and sequencing.
  • Coordinate delivery across design, engineering, data, and QA-as well as trade desk, operations, clearing, and compliance partners; manage dependencies (e.g., execution venues, market data, ledger and booking systems) and alignment to OKRs.
  • Define success metrics and instrumentation for trading systems; build dashboards; monitor adoption, order and fill quality, latency, and reliability; drive iterative improvements.
  • Plan launches and go-to-market with marketing, sales, and relationship management; ensure client-facing API documentation, support, training, and operational readiness.
  • Prepare value cases and impact estimates for trading initiatives (e.g., new asset classes, order types, or extended trading hours); track outcomes against targets and course-correct as needed.
  • Ensure regulatory and best execution obligations are reflected in product decisions; partner with compliance on requirements such as best execution reviews, CAT reporting, and trade surveillance.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and operational gaps early-including capacity for market volume spikes and incident readiness during market hours; drive mitigations and escalate appropriately.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strategic thinking at product-area level: synthesizes client, market-structure, and order flow data into problem statements and priorities across orders, portfolios, and executions.
  • Product-level backlog management: translates strategy into PRDs/epics; sequences work across one or more trading teams and their operations and compliance partners.
  • KPI ownership: defines product KPIs for trading systems (adoption, fill and execution quality, latency, reliability, straight-through processing); builds dashboards; drives improvements.
  • Technical depth: conversant in architecture, APIs, FIX connectivity, event-driven systems, and data models, and the trade-offs impacting the scale, latency, and resilience of trading platforms.
  • Cross-functional leadership: coordinates design, engineering, data, QA, and GTM alongside trade desk, operations, and compliance; manages dependencies and change.
  • Regulatory awareness: understands how obligations such as best execution and regulatory reporting shape trading product requirements; partners effectively with compliance and legal.
  • Risk management: proactively identifies risks and operational gaps, including those unique to market-hours systems; drives mitigations and escalations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pragmatic/AIPMM CPM, PMI-ACP, or CSPO/PSPO.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (SaaS/PaaS/IaaS) and integrating APIs/data sources; familiarity with the FIX protocol and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong measurement discipline: defines product KPIs, instruments usage, validates assumptions, and pivots based on performance.
  • 4-6 year of experience as a Product Manager, ideally with some industry experience in FinTech, brokerage, and/or Wealth Management, with familiarity with the regulatory and competitive landscape (e.g., SEC/FINRA rules affecting order handling, best execution, and reporting).
  • Direct experience with multi-asset trading (equities, fractional shares, options, mutual funds, fixed income), portfolio rebalancing, model management, direct indexing, or order routing and execution systems.
  • FINRA licenses or securities industry coursework (e.g., SIE, Series 7) a plus.
