Job description

Position Title: Product Support Engineering Intern
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Product Support Manager
Position Summary: The Engineering Intern will support the Product Support Engineering team by developing, maintaining, and improving technical product documentation and resources. This role focuses on creating installation guides, product specification sheets, and technical documentation by leveraging engineering drawings, CAD models, and ERP data. The intern will work closely with Product Support Engineers to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all technical materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a centralized repository for product documentation and support resources including including installation guides, user manuals, and product specification sheets
  • Provide technical support for internal teams by supplying accurate documentation and product information
  • Interpret and incorporate engineering drawings, CAD models, and schematics into customer-facing and internal documents
  • Support engineering change documentation (ECN/NPI) updates within technical materials
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to documentation processes and product support workflows

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or similar), and Adobe InDesign or Adobe Illustrator.
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear documentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with documentation tools is a plus
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Required Education and Experience:
  • A current junior or senior seeking a degree in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering from an accredited university.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to technical documentation standards or prior technical writing experience.
  • Familiarity with basic graphics or illustration tools for technical content creation.
  • Prior Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) program experience.
