Working under direct supervision of the Manager of Product Data, the Product Data Editor selects from a variety of established procedures to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities. The Editor locates product information, creates content for product database, and performs data stewardship of product information. Product information includes technical specifications, companion products, product images, and product categories. The Editor applies product and technical knowledge to input information into a product database. The product information in this database is used by our internal and external product search tools to help locate products and in our reporting databases.
Responsibilities
Primary Job Duties
โ€ข Uses internal tools to enter the acquired data into the product database
โ€ข Researches the information used to populate the product database. Resources may include manufacturer Web Pages, emails, and phone conversations
โ€ข Categorizes and/or re-categorizes products according to a preset, internal taxonomy
โ€ข Data stewardship is the management and oversight of data assets to help provide customers and internal users with high-quality data.
โ€ข Acts as data steward for the product information
โ€ข Manages cases with our data providers and syndication partners
โ€ข Performs all other duties or special data projects as assigned
Required competencies:
โ€ข Basic computer knowledge with ability to operate keyboard for data entry.
โ€ข Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with ability to create a document or simple spreadsheet.
โ€ข Attention to detail in composing, keying, and proofing professional business materials
โ€ข Understanding and using basic English grammar
โ€ข Adaptable with ability to switch tasks based on shifting priorities
โ€ข Analytical with ability to draw conclusions from data, systematic and rational
โ€ข Conceptual with ability to conceive mentally, formulate ideas, use imagination to achieve results
โ€ข Detail oriented with item by item focus, meticulous attention to detail with ability to proofread for accuracy
โ€ข Organized state of mind with ability to document activities, anticipate problems, plan schedules and monitor performance according to priorities and deadlines
