Product Engineer

Location: Duncan, SC
Hybrid schedule: Monday and Friday remote. Tuesday through Thursday onsite.

Salary: $75,000 to $95,000 depending on experience.

Our client, a global leader in fiber optic cable manufacturing, is seeking a Product Engineer to join their team in Duncan, South Carolina. This role supports the engineering systems and product structures used to manufacture fiber optic cable products.We are looking for candidates who enjoy both product engineering and data analysis.

In this role, you will work with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure product specifications, bills of materials, and configuration rules remain accurate across engineering and ERP systems. You will also analyze engineering and manufacturing data to identify inconsistencies, enforce product limits, and support engineering change activity.

This position fits engineers who enjoy understanding how products work and how engineering data supports manufacturing.

What You Will Do
  • Maintain and manage product structures including multi level bills of materials and manufacturing routings.
  • Implement engineering changes that affect product structure, specifications, and manufacturing processes.
  • Review engineering documentation and technical standards to ensure product configuration rules meet engineering requirements.
  • Build formulas and configuration logic used by systems that control how products are configured and manufactured.
  • Analyze engineering and manufacturing data to identify trends, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop queries and reports that evaluate engineering and manufacturing data.
  • Work with ERP and engineering systems to maintain accurate product data.
  • Validate product configuration rules and engineering data before release to manufacturing.
  • Support regulatory and industry compliance documentation for product specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve technical product issues.
  • Support internal teams with product configuration questions and technical documentation.
What We Look For
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 to 8 years of experience supporting engineered products in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience maintaining bill of materials structures and manufacturing routings.
  • Experience supporting engineering change orders (ECO) or engineering change management.
  • Experience working with ERP or PLM systems such as SAP, Oracle, Teamcenter, Windchill, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with engineering or manufacturing data.
  • Experience writing SQL queries or working with structured data systems is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret engineering documentation and technical standards.
  • Strong attention to detail when working with product data and engineering systems.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience supporting configurable products.
  • Experience working with engineering configuration systems.
  • Exposure to regulatory or compliance documentation related to manufactured products.
  • Experience analyzing manufacturing system data.
