We create for our global customers engineered components and sub-systems that deliver extreme precision and performance for a range of mission-critical applications-from minimally invasive surgery to robotics to 3D metal printing.
Novanta is one global team with over 26 offices located in The Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Looking for a great place to work? You have found it with a culture that embraces teamwork, collaboration and empowerment. Come explore Novanta.
1 About the Role
Novanta is a global supplier of core technology solutions for medical and advanced industrial OEMs. We're looking for a results-driven Senior Manager, Procurement to lead buying across multiple sites and business units - Robotics & Automation, Celera Motion, and ATI.
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Supply Chain, you'll own procurement strategy for our multi-site footprint with clear accountability for cost savings, tariff and trade-cost mitigation, and agile sourcing for new product introduction (NPI). It's a high-impact role for a commercially sharp leader who can operate from the shop floor to the executive review.
2 What You'll Do
Lead multi-site procurement - harmonize strategy, policies, and controls across U.S and UK/EMEA operations, turning enterprise-wide spend into leverage.
Deliver cost savings - own the annual savings roadmap through negotiation, should-cost modeling, competitive bidding, and value engineering with Engineering and Operations.
Mitigate tariff & trade cost - quantify duty exposure and act on it via alternative sourcing, dual-sourcing, tariff engineering, and preferential trade programs (FTAs, duty drawback).
Drive landed-cost decisions - model duties, freight, currency, and lead-time risk into total-cost comparisons that shape the supplier footprint.
Source for NPI - embed procurement early with R&D, qualify suppliers for new and prototype parts, and secure cost, quality, and supply readiness through launch.
Manage suppliers strategically - build key relationships, run performance reviews, and mitigate single-source, geopolitical, and financial-health risk.
Raise the bar on systems & process - leverage ERP and analytics (Oracle EBS, SAP, Power BI) for spend visibility, governance, and reporting.
Lead the team - coach and develop buyers across sites, and act as a change agent for procurement transformation.
3 What You'll Bring
8+ years in procurement or strategic sourcing, including 3+ years leading teams.
Proven cost savings delivered in a manufacturing environment.
Experience across multiple sites and/or international operations.
Working knowledge of global trade, tariffs, HTS classification, and landed cost.
Hands-on NPI sourcing and strong partnership with engineering.
Sharp negotiation, supplier-management, and ERP/analytics skills (Oracle EBS, Power BI, Excel).
Bachelor's in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
4 Nice to Have
MBA or supply chain master's, and/or CPSM, CSCP, or APICS certification.
Background in electronics, motion control, or precision engineered products.
Oracle EBS R12 (ASCP/MRP) or SAP and outsourced-process (OSP) experience.
Lean or Six Sigma training.
