Solutions Architect

FullTime Professional Reston, VA, US

30+ days ago Requisition ID: 1069

Technical Solution Architect (Growth-Focused)

Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid – Onsite as Needed)
Clearance: Preferred
Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Overview

Improvix Technologies is seeking a Technical Solution Architect to play a key role in shaping our technical strategy and driving solution design across multiple federal programs and business development pursuits. This position blends hands-on technical acumen, strategic solutioning, and collaboration with business development and delivery teams — with a focus on helping Improvix grow across mission-critical Federal Civilian agencies.

The ideal candidate is someone who thrives on understanding the “how” behind complex solutions, can articulate Improvix’s technical capabilities to customers, and can design scalable, compliant, and innovative architectures aligned to customer missions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Technical Solution Development: Design, architect, and propose technical solutions for new and existing federal opportunities, including RFPs, task orders, and recompetes.
  • Partner with BD and Capture Teams: Collaborate with business development and program leadership to align technical approaches with capture strategies and customer missions.
  • Customer Engagement: Serve as a technical subject matter expert in discussions with current and prospective clients. Be willing and able to articulate Improvix’s service offerings, capabilities, and differentiators in a clear, mission-oriented way.
  • Proposal Support: Develop technical volumes, solution narratives, diagrams, and compliance matrices for proposals and whitepapers.
  • Solution Roadmapping: Identify emerging technologies and architectures that can enhance Improvix’s technical posture, particularly in cloud, DevSecOps, low-code platforms, data analytics, and cybersecurity.
  • Collaboration Across Programs: Support technical alignment across active programs (e.g., ExecTech, DOJ ESA V, DOS ADD) and provide design input for modernization and transformation initiatives.
  • Internal Mentorship: Support technical growth and standardization across Improvix’s engineering teams, helping to bridge BD, delivery, and innovation functions.
  • Process Improvement: Identify gaps in solutioning workflows and propose improvements to ensure more efficient, consistent, and innovative responses to high-value opportunities.

What Success Looks Like

  • You are helping Improvix win new work through thoughtful, technically sound, and customer-aligned solutions.
  • You can walk into a room with a federal technical lead or product owner and hold your own in a technical conversation — even without a BD person by your side.
  • You are not afraid to “get into the weeds” technically but can still zoom out to shape high-level architectures and narratives.
  • You proactively engage with internal teams and help lighten the load on existing leadership (e.g., Jack, Aneesh, Ashley) by driving solutioning independently and confidently.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in IT solution architecture, systems engineering, or technical leadership in federal environments.
  • Proven experience leading or supporting proposal and solution development for federal opportunities (RFPs, RFIs, whitepapers).
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architectures, including cloud (AWS, Azure), data platforms, and low-code/no-code ecosystems (ServiceNow, Salesforce, Unqork).
  • Familiarity with federal security, compliance, and modernization frameworks (FedRAMP, Zero Trust, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical detail into customer value propositions.
  • Strong collaboration skills — able to work effectively with BD, PMs, engineers, and executives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting or designing solutions for agencies such as DOJ, DOS, DHS, or Capitol Police.
  • Hands-on experience with DevSecOps toolchains, data architecture, or cloud-native application development.
  • Experience with proposal writing or technical volume ownership.
  • Ability to act as both a strategic advisor and hands-on contributor in solution development.

Cultural Fit

  • Collaborative, communicative, and open-minded — thrives in a fast-paced growth environment.
  • Comfortable operating independently but values teamwork and cross-functional alignment.
  • Technically curious and “solutiony” — enjoys problem-solving, brainstorming, and building scalable approaches.
  • Doesn’t need to be “salesy,” but can confidently represent Improvix to customers with authenticity and technical depth.
