Job description

Job Objective:
The Process Engineer IV serves as a lead technical authority in midstream process engineering, responsible for driving high-value optimization initiatives, complex debottlenecking projects, and strategic capital improvements across pipeline, compression, and processing assets. This role leads cross-functional engineering efforts, overseeing full project lifecycles-including conceptual design, feasibility, cost estimating, execution planning, and construction oversight. The Process Engineer IV provides critical support to Operations in solving persistent performance issues and to Commercial and Business Development teams in evaluating new projects, M&A opportunities, and facility expansions. This position plays a key role in aligning operational reliability, commercial growth, and capital efficiency while mentoring junior engineers and influencing long-term asset strategy.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the senior technical authority for troubleshooting, optimization, and capital project planning across multiple operating areas.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to improve system reliability, debottleneck operations, and align engineering efforts with commercial and operational strategy.
  • Provide high-level oversight of all engineering phases-from conceptual development through commissioning-for large and high-impact capital projects.
  • Direct third-party engineering firms and internal project teams, ensuring all designs meet strategic, technical, and regulatory expectations.
  • Represent the company in technical discussions with regulatory agencies, external partners, and stakeholders.
  • Lead or sponsor due diligence efforts for mergers, acquisitions, and joint venture opportunities; provide executive-level assessments and recommendations.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to professional development across the team.
  • Present company-wide performance metrics, engineering initiatives, and project outcomes at senior leadership or board-level meetings.
  • Provide guidance on regulatory compliance strategy and ensure consistent application of industry best practices.
  • Lead technical investigations and response activities for major incidents or operational disruptions.

Other Job Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate commitment to company core values - Integrity, Ownership, Urgency, Alignment, and Innovation - in all daily responsibilities and interactions.
  • Actively support and contribute to the company's mission and vision through reliable, high-quality work

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10+ years of oil and gas/process engineering experience, with significant field operations involvement.
  • Deep, cross-disciplinary engineering knowledge (civil, electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and process control).
  • Expert in developing and approving engineering deliverables: design basis, H&MBs, PFDs, P&IDs, data sheets, and specifications.
  • In-depth experience with process simulation software (HYSYS, Aspen Plus) and hydraulic modeling tools.
  • Skilled in process safety and risk management; leads or facilitates HAZOPs, LOPAs, and PSM processes.
  • Proven track record of managing complex capital projects, including estimating, scheduling, contracting, and execution.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to synthesize and present complex technical information to executive stakeholders.
  • Comfortable with high-pressure decision-making and balancing multiple large-scope initiatives.
  • Willing to travel up to 25% in support of field initiatives, due diligence, and capital project delivery.

Education Requirements, Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations:
  • Required: Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Professional Engineers license, preferred.
