Process Simulate information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Process Simulate Specialist, and why are they important?

To excel as a Process Simulate Specialist, you need a strong background in industrial engineering, manufacturing processes, and 3D simulation, often supported by a relevant engineering degree. Proficiency in Siemens Process Simulate software, knowledge of PLC programming, and familiarity with CAD systems are essential technical requirements. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills set top performers apart in this field. These capabilities are crucial for accurately modeling, optimizing, and communicating complex manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency and reducing production risks.

What is the difference between Process Simulate vs Process Engineer?

AspectProcess SimulateProcess Engineer
Primary RoleUses simulation software to model manufacturing processesDesigns, develops, and optimizes manufacturing processes
Skills & CertificationsCAD/CAM, simulation software proficiency, technical engineering backgroundProcess design, project management, engineering certifications
Work EnvironmentTypically in software labs or engineering officesFactories, manufacturing plants, engineering offices
Industry UsageUsed by manufacturing and automation companies for process validationEmployed in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace industries for process development

While Process Simulate focuses on modeling and testing manufacturing processes virtually, Process Engineers are responsible for designing and implementing these processes in real-world settings. Both roles require technical expertise, but Process Simulate emphasizes simulation skills, whereas Process Engineers focus on practical process development and optimization.

How does a Process Simulate specialist typically collaborate with engineering and production teams during a project?

A Process Simulate specialist works closely with both engineering and production teams to develop, test, and optimize manufacturing processes in a virtual environment before implementation on the shop floor. This collaboration involves regular meetings to review simulation results, gather feedback on proposed process changes, and ensure alignment with production goals and constraints. Effective communication is key, as the specialist must translate technical simulation data into actionable insights for engineers and operators. Such teamwork helps identify potential bottlenecks, improve efficiency, and reduce costly errors during actual production ramp-up.

What is a Process Simulate engineer?

A Process Simulate engineer specializes in using simulation software—such as Siemens Process Simulate—to design, validate, and optimize manufacturing processes in a virtual environment. Their main tasks include creating digital models of production lines, testing various process scenarios, and identifying improvements before physical implementation. This helps manufacturers save time, reduce costs, and minimize errors by addressing issues early in the design phase. Process Simulate engineers often collaborate closely with production, quality, and design teams to ensure efficient and error-free manufacturing workflows.

Job description

About Basetwo

Basetwo is building the AI layer for pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing. Our AI-powered digital twin platform helps manufacturers accelerate the journey from lab to commercial production through faster scale-up/tech transfer, and de-risked quality control. Trusted by leading global manufacturers, we're bringing modern AI to one of the world's most complex and impactful industries. Our team combines expertise across chemical engineering, manufacturing, AI, and software to tackle high-impact industrial problems.

The Role

As Senior Product Manager, you will work directly with the Founding team to build and lead a product-driven organization from the ground up. This role is suited to someone who has lived on both sides of the table: an engineer who has grappled with real process and modeling challenges, and who now wants to translate that depth of domain expertise into product decisions. You'll drive Basetwo's product experience, making it simple, intuitive, and beautiful while handling very complex manufacturing and process workflows. You'll collaborate closely with Engineering, Science, and leadership to define and execute the Basetwo product roadmap, and you'll be a key voice in shaping how the platform serves process engineers across R&D, pilot, and manufacturing environments.

What You'll Do
  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for Basetwo's AI-powered process simulation and digital twin platform
  • Understand Basetwo users (process, chemical, and manufacturing engineers) at a deep level: what's important to them, their constraints and challenges, their expectations of AI technology, why they love Basetwo, and what they wish we could do better
  • Translate complex engineering and scientific workflows (e.g., bioreactor simulation, chromatography simulation, reaction simulation, and other process simulation use cases) into clear product requirements and practical product experiences for technical users
  • Apply your understanding of how process knowledge, models, data, and operating constraints evolve across R&D, pilot, and production environments to shape features that support tech transfer and process scale-up
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, science, and design teams to translate product vision into actionable functional requirements
  • Prioritize features and functionality based on business objectives, technical feasibility, and user feedback
  • Own the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch, and drive the maturity of product processes as the team scales
  • Conduct market research and engage directly with customers to identify opportunities for product enhancement and innovation
  • Partner with sales and marketing teams to refine go-to-market campaigns and strategies
  • Analyze product performance metrics and user data to drive continuous improvement
  • Stay current on trends in AI, process simulation, and manufacturing/pharma technology
  • Mentor and help grow the product function as the team expands

Requirements

What You'll Need
  • 5+ years of experience in product management or process/chemical engineering roles, with meaningful time spent in product management for technical or enterprise software
  • A process engineering background, with hands-on experience in pharma, biologics, or related regulated manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation workflows such as bioreactor simulation, chromatography simulation, reaction simulation, or other process simulation use cases
  • Direct experience with tech transfer, process scale-up, or moving processes from development into manufacturing, and a strong grasp of how process knowledge, models, data, and operating constraints shift across R&D, pilot, and production stages
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex engineering and scientific workflows into clear product requirements and intuitive product experiences for technical users
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling complex technical products, ideally in manufacturing, industrial, or life sciences technology
  • Strong understanding of artificial intelligence and simulation applications in the B2B enterprise world
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and influence senior stakeholders
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and project management tools
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of industrial databases and control systems (e.g., OSI PI) is a plus
  • Understanding of energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction in manufacturing processes is a plus
