OVERVIEW

Process Engineering Associates, LLC (PROCESS) is actively seeking a part-time Senior Process Engineer (Chemical Engineer) to lead process safety related projects. The role involves performance of various types of process safety work for clients in a variety of industrial market segments, in addition to supporting marketing and proposal generation efforts. As workload grows, this position may become full-time. Typical work performed may include:

  • Conducting Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) using HAZOP/What-If, etc.
  • Resolving/implementing PHA recommendations
  • Conducting Layer of Protection Analyses (LOPA)
  • SIL level selection analyses and SIS design specifications
  • Facilitating Dust Hazards Analyses
  • Conducting PSM compliance audits
  • Complete PSM/RMP program development
  • Process safety information development
  • Code Compliance Consulting for Hazardous Materials Storage and Use (IBC, IFC, NFPA)
  • General and Local Ventilation Design for Hazardous Materials Handling
  • Develop Electrical Area Classifications and related drawings
  • Conducting a Facility Siting Analysis
  • PRD safe atmospheric relief evaluations
  • Development of Cause/Effect diagrams and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses
  • Developing and teaching process safety training courses.

LOCATION

The position can be located in one of our existing office locations (TN, UT, PA, AL, SC, or TX) or can be a hybrid remote work arrangement. Travel to client locations will be required for PHA facilitation, PSM auditing, and other activities. The position will primarily be supporting clients in the United States; however, occasional international travel outside the U.S. may also be required depending on client location.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering from an accredited U.S. university
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in process engineering, process safety, and design
  • Experienced in the use of various PHA software
  • Understanding of industry codes and standards (NFPA, ASME, API, etc.) and government regulations (OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, etc.)
  • Well versed in typical chemical process engineering deliverables (HMBs, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively interact with external and internal clients to support scoping projects, developing proposals, facilitating/scribing PHA meetings, resolving issues, and successfully drive completion of projects.
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills
  • Project management experience a plus but not required
  • Fire safety experience a plug but not required
  • Advanced degree and professional registration a plus but not required.
