Job description

The UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for an Account Operations Tech 1 to join our Revenue Cycle department. This opportunity is a full-time day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This position is an on-site, position.

Minimum $36,399 - Midpoint $44,754*

*Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.

*Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.

Summary:

Performs a variety of routine day-to-day operations related to the administration of billing accounts for a defined University medical service or billing agent.

Minimum Job Requirements of an Account Operations Tech 1:

High school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.

Duties and Responsibilities of an Account Operations Tech 1:

  1. Researches and prepares billings for initial electronic claims submissions.
  2. Verifies benefits eligibility and coverage for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures.
  3. Enters information necessary for insurance claims such as patient, insurance ID, diagnosis and treatment codes and modifiers, and provider information. Insures claim information is complete and accurate
  4. Prepares, reviews, and transmits claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
  5. Identifies and bills secondary or tertiary insurances.
  6. Submits insurance claims to clearinghouse or individual insurance companies electronically or via paper CMS-1500 form.
  7. Ensures strict confidentiality of patient medical and financial records, in compliance with federal and state patient privacy legislation.
  8. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
