Position Overview:
The Process Improvement Specialist supports the Business Operations Office (BOO) by partnering with departments across the college to improve how work gets done, with a primary functional focus on Human Resources. Reporting to the Associate Director of the BOO, this role works closely with HR staff and leadership to understand day-to-day operations, identify opportunities for improvement, and support the thoughtful use of technology and process changes.
This is not a pure development role and does not center on hands-on software development. Instead, the position is designed for someone who enjoys working directly with stakeholders, asking questions, clarifying needs, and helping translate operational challenges into practical, sustainable solutions. The Solutions Analyst helps ensure that systems, processes, and improvements are well-understood, appropriately implemented, and aligned with college standards.
The role blends business analysis, project support, and continuous improvement work. Success depends on good judgment, communication, and the ability to work collaboratively across functional and technical teams while supporting initiatives from idea through implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner primarily with the Human Resources department to understand operational needs, document current-state processes, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Apply business analysis techniques to gather requirements, assess impacts, and support improvements to HR systems, workflows, and services.
  • Research and recommend technology solutions-including automation and enterprise platforms-based on operational fit, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
  • Support HR-focused and cross-functional projects by helping define scope, coordinate tasks and timelines, and assist with implementation activities.
  • Assist with change efforts by helping prepare communication, training, and documentation that support adoption of new tools or processes.
  • Coordinate with IT and functional teams to support PeopleSoft PUM testing, including issue tracking, retesting, and collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Review system updates and available functionality to identify enhancements that improve operations and reduce reliance on customizations.
  • Ensure recommended solutions align with college policies, data governance, accessibility, and security standards, with appropriate documentation maintained as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of business analysis and project management concepts.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement and change management frameworks preferred.
  • Ability to facilitate conversations, gather input, and translate business needs into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical topics in plain language.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to both process detail and practical constraints.
  • Ability to build rapport and work effectively with stakeholders across departments, particularly Human Resources.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a changing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, including SharePoint, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic experience with process mapping or documentation tools (e.g., Visio).
  • Ability to work independently while contributing as part of a collaborative, service-oriented team.

This position may be subject to a criminal background screening as a condition of employment.
