Summary

The Manager, Manufacturing Process Engineering is a high-visibility leadership role responsible for ensuring the stability and efficiency of our PCBA manufacturing lines. You are responsible for leading and managing the work of designing, developing, deploying and optimizing processes for manufacturing to achieve quality cost and delivery goals for Celestica and its customers products. This role requires a blend of hands-on troubleshooting, strategic capacity planning, and high-level stakeholder management.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate with floor supervisors to identify manufacturing issues and ensure technical resources are effectively deployed to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Participate in daily status meetings to synchronize engineering priorities with factory production goals and volume targets.
  • Direct and mentor a team of Process Engineers and student interns, managing performance and professional development.
  • New Product Launch (NPI) support.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute both short-term tactical improvements and long-term manufacturing strategies to enhance scalability and technological capabilities.
  • Capacity & Shift Planning: Conduct resource modeling to ensure equipment and personnel are correctly scheduled to meet planned production volumes.
  • CapEx Management: Develop formal business cases for new equipment and oversee the execution of comprehensive qualification plans.
  • Escalation Management: Serve as the technical lead for customer-facing issues, providing updates and timelines when equipment failures impact delivery schedules.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain a culture of safety by ensuring all equipment and processes adhere to OSHA standards, maintaining a secure working environment for the engineering and production teams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
  • Professional Experience: 6-8 years of experience in PCBA manufacturing (SMT, Reflow, AOI, etc.) with a deep understanding of electronic assembly processes.
  • Leadership Experience: 2-3 years in a formal people leadership role, including experience managing Engineering direct reports.
  • Proven ability to handle high-pressure escalations and communicate technical delays to customers with professionalism and transparency.
  • Analytical skills and ability to perform capacity modeling and financial justification for capital equipment (CapEx).
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
Physical Demands
  • Duties of this position are performed in a combined manufacturing and office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. 
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
Typical Experience and Education
  • 6-8 years of experience in PCBA manufacturing or a similar role or industry. 2-3 years of progressive leadership experince.
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational Requirements may vary by Geography

Salary

The stated range includes Base Salary and target Short-Term Incentive (STI) compensation only. A comprehensive benefits package is offered in addition to this range.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 CAD
