We are passionate and excited about how we can shape and inspire changes within an ever-growing marketplace. As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for a Process Engineer to join our Atlas Point team.
The Process Engineer will be the technical expert at the site for the manufacturing of ethylene oxide from ethanol. Provide process engineering technical support for ethylene oxide manufacturing including continuous improvement of process, process safety, process monitoring & control, product quality, optimization, cost reduction and energy consumption. Participate in hazard studies for the area working closely with Site Process Safety Expert to ensure compliance with all OSHA PSM and CRODA corporate requirements. Responsible for management of all process changes per site procedure. Perform all duties within the Company's safety, health & environmental regulations. All other duties as assigned by management.
What You'll Be Doing:
Process Improvement
• Troubleshoot Process performance - Resolve problems and issues that occur in daily manufacturing routine.
• Resolve systemic issues providing short, medium and long-term solutions.
• Devise appropriate process control schemes and operating procedures to operate safely with higher quality and throughput.
• Perform technical / process calculations associated with physical chemistry principles, unit operations and applications.
• Reduce unit operating cost through utilities, energy and waste reduction initiatives.
• Advise, teach, and mentor chemical plant supervisors and operators.
Safety Improvement
• Contribute technical expertise for areas of Process Safety Management and Risk Management Program Rule.
• Resolve hazard study actions per agreed timelines.
• Maintain area Basis of Safety, Process and Safe Operating Limits documents
• Participate in incident investigation and root cause analysis
• Participate in hazard studies per Croda corporate policies and procedures
• IImprove Safety of Manufacturing Operation through observation and recommendation to management.
• Author, train on, update work instructions and equipment operating procedures.
Project Work
• Perform engineering calculations as may be required by various functions (for example, Manufacturing, engineering,
• environmental, process development, energy, sustainability and quality assurance).
• Interface with maintenance and engineering to provide input to reliability efforts and capital projects to improve operation
• and lower costs.
• Support capital project work for area through process design, execution, and start-up phases.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering discipline
• 5+ years of process engineering experience in continuous processing of hazardous chemicals. Strong knowledge of process control and simulation, catalytic reactions, unit operations including distillation etc., and OSHA PSM preferred.
• Hands-on experience in an industrial environment preferred
Skills & Capabilities
• Process simulation
• Aspen, APC, Six Sigma Green Belt , SAP and Lean Manufacturing preferred
• Must have oral and written proficiency in the English language.
Ability to walk, sit or stand for a minimum of 8 hours. May be required to move throughout production areas on uneven surfaces, climb ladders and/or stairs and be exposed to outside weather conditions for extended periods. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
