Position Overview
The Process Engineer IV is a senior-level engineering role responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of complex manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixturing. This individual owns projects from concept through completion, driving process improvements, manufacturability, and cost efficiency while partnering cross-functionally with production, quality, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
โข Lead complex engineering projects from concept through production, ensuring quality, cost, and schedule adherence
โข Develop and validate manufacturing models using CAD, 2D drawings, and scanning data
โข Design and optimize machining processes, tooling, and fixturing solutions
โข Provide technical direction to CAM programmers on toolpaths, machining strategies, and cutting parameters
โข Conduct design reviews with internal teams and customers to ensure manufacturability and compliance
โข Create and maintain engineering documentation including CAD models, drawings, routings, and revision-controlled data
โข Analyze materials, features, and manufacturing methods to improve efficiency and performance
โข Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Operations to resolve process and design issues
โข Evaluate and implement workholding solutions (vises, fixtures, vacuum/magnetic systems, soft jaws, etc.)
โข Generate RFQs, BOMs, routings, and cost estimates within ERP systems
โข Lead job kickoff meetings and support contract review processes
โข Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, efficiency, and repeatability
Must Haves
โข Bachelorโs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field OR 5+ years of relevant process engineering experience
โข Strong experience in precision machining environments
โข Advanced proficiency in CAD/CAM software
โข Deep understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
โข Proven ability to lead projects from concept through production
โข Experience designing tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutions
โข Strong knowledge of machining processes, cutting strategies, and manufacturability
โข Experience collaborating cross-functionally with production, quality, and customers
โข Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
โข Effective communication and project management capabilities
Nice to Have
โข 10+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering
โข Experience with Powermill, Siemens NX, or advanced CAM platforms
โข Six Sigma Black Belt or strong continuous improvement background
โข ERP system experience (BOMs, routings, quoting, RFQs)
โข Experience working in regulated environments (ITAR / CUI)
โข Advanced 3D modeling and simulation experience
โข Experience leading cross-functional teams or mentoring junior engineers
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
โข Hybrid office and shop-floor environment
โข Moderate noise levels and exposure to active machining operations
โข Exposure to moving equipment, oils, cutting fluids, dust, and fumes
โข Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
โข Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
โข Ability to read blueprints, gauges, and technical documentation
